Of the several knives I have, this one is one of my faves. It's a good design and a great value, and It's versatile. I tote one with me everywhere - even in church! I don't understand the wide-spread dislike of the orange paracord. In the bush, it would certainly make it easier to find. (I know that some good folks of a particular mindset will say that's precisely the point - it's too visible, makes a guy an easier target, etc.) But I did change to ODG paracord, so that it wouldn't stand out so much as I EDC it at work, church, oot and aboot (as our Canadian friends would say), etc. Good knife, good vid.
@moxtr11 жыл бұрын
Nicely done. For the final burning of the paracord at the end I find if you pull 3/4 of an inch or so of the white inner strands out and cut it off then pull the sheath of the cord back it makes for a cleaner finish when you melt the ends. Just my 2 cents.

Nice work and video...one suggestion, tape the blade of keep it sheathed during the wrapping process or you may end up as I did making a trip to the emergency room for some stitches. I trashed the plastic sheath and pressed a new one out of kydex.

I got one just as a rescue knife to attatch to my climbing harness at work..I didn't realise how god it was!!! I'm making a nice wooden handle for mine. Just two halves of nice branch wood screwed to each side and shaped!! Nice little knife..its gone in with my outdoors equipment now!!!

Raythetree001 cool idea, the paracord holes will make good screw thru holes to secure your handle.
@TheTiDman11 жыл бұрын
I got one of these and I think it`s pretty good. Part of my reason for buying it is that I like knot tying, so mine changed from orange to black within the hour. This video went on in the background under the process. I choose to leave the cords long so I can remove and retie the cord if it needs some cleaning or something. For me the sheath work best without the belt attachement. Fits perfect IWB or in a pocket. The Gerber mystery steel is definitely not a "supersteel" but it work okay.

The belt clip was on right... It's meant for your right hand to reach over to your left hip and pull the knife out. But other wise thanks for the help with the weaving the paracord

mine's wrapped in black with the cord wrapped tightly around the outside so the skeletal holes are showing, you get less usable cord in there BUT if you pull tight as hell and get as many loops per section as possible it's much more grippy and stable, the figure 8 wrap is less stable and picks up more water if you get it wet

The first one of these I bought from a seller on eBay for around $20 had the orange logo on both sides. I thought it was still a pretty nice knife for the money even though I am not a fan of the BG logo, so I ordered another from a different seller on eBay for $18. This one must be old stock. One side of the sheath is blank. I noticed another difference too. Apparently this older style didn't have the beveled corners on the handle and back side of the blade, which makes for an overall rougher finish, but will be beneficial if I ever use it on a fire steel. If you shop on eBay, you might just luck out and find someone selling new old stock like I did.

Have u tried to mount the belt piece on two of the bottom holes, if it is possible? It looks like the distance between the holes are similar to those on the side. If possible, it could give you the option to have it placed on your belt with an angle, may be useful for some..

I have the same knife and instead of taking it apart I use it as a more concealed knife because the way I use the sheath I can tuck it into my waist band and my belt goes through the slot in the belt clip itself that way it hides the logo and when I pull the knife my belt holds the sheath in place.I did change the wrap too orange is to bright
@gearsNtools10 жыл бұрын

It comes with orange paracord because its main purpose is survival, so let's say you're in the forest, it's a little bit dark, and you accidentally drop it, the color of the paracord is very bright, so it would be easy to found.

Agreed this blade is no super steel but its acceptable for what most people will use it for. I like your idea of leaving the cords long, I wish I had thought of that. I might have to do that next time. I've been playing with the idea of using two different colors of cord on the knife to see how it turns out. Thanks for watching!
@lastdollarfilms11 жыл бұрын
For those complaining about the orange you have to remember in a survival situation you want to be seen and any orange is a help. Also if you should happen to drop it the orange makes it easier to find. I'm making a tanto survival/bushcraft knife that is a little larger than this but will have the paracord wrapped handle. I have large hands and am more comfortable with a slightly larger knife. The paracold I will be using has orange but is not as bright since the main reason i will using it is I just like the color but don't want to be over powered by it

Regarding the belt loop, how wide of a belt can it accommodate?
@gearsNtools10 жыл бұрын
Tony L Good question, I measured mine and it looks like a 1 3/4" wide belt will just fit, it is defiantly too small for a 2" wide belt. the belt loop is also somewhat flat, it wouldn't be a problem for a leather or nylon belt, but a thicker paracord belt might prove to be a challenge to get the loop over. Hey I like your idea for a custom sheath but for a $30 knife I didn't think it would be worth the energy to get material for a new sheath, however that being said, I do have some knives on order I plan to make Kydex sheaths for, maybe if I have some material left over I'll make one for this one too. Take a look at the other paracord knife vid I did, it's a bit trickier than this one. (Link is in description) Thanks for watching
