DIY Upgrading Guitar Tuners - Enlarging existing holes with a Reamer for New Locking Imperial Tuners

This 2008 Gretsch Electromatic Hollowbody Guitar is getting new Imperial style locking tuners from Gyker. The existing holes were not large enough and needed to be reamed to the correct diameter -all of the steps are outlined in the video. Slow and careful makes for a nice clean job! It is a DIY project that can be done in about 2 hrs with some patience and the right tools. Enjoy the video!

I use that same cheap bit from the headstock rear in a drill press to go to 10 MM diameter tuning machines and the 8 MM holes act as a guide for the enlarging bit in a drill press. And it is cheap and easy to use...

Useful thanks, one small point, if you have a hard tail and detune the low e-, there is a risk the high e will break under the extra strain.

Hi I have the G5420T model and have never had a problem with it staying in tune it’s always there or abouts if you look back on your video before you took the strings off the strings were wound up on the post and not down that puts a lot of stress on the tuners And will not stay in tune very well, PS you always tune up and I bet this was not the case if we seven problems! 🤷‍♂️
