In this video I demonstrate the effectiveness of the shroud I built in part 1. I couldn't see any dust in the air during or after grinding which is awesome! Part 1 is here: • DIY Vacuumless Concret...

Also I bet the water keeps the blade cool and it lasts much longer! This really is a fantastic remedy (as long as you don't get zapped).

Looks like 180mm Makita wet grinder. A few years ago I had to grind the top of a concrete balcony in preparation to recoat concrete. I used two machines both dry and using dust collection. One was a 130mm machine If I remember correctly supplied to me and the other a smaller 5 inch makita dry grinder with a dust shroud . Definitely the wet grinder is a better optio. From looking at your video, very impressive. Grinding vertical is no easy task. Great video.

Definitely the way to go. Thanks for sharing the info. I didn't see any dust whatsoever and that was a sideways (vertical) test run. On the floor, I would imagine, it has to work just as great 👍😀!

It does! Used it to clean up some thinset and level out a slab. No dust whatsoever!

Where can I buy this whole machine?

I want to do the same thing to a angle grinder for dust control cutting tile. I know you can use a wet saw but sometimes it sucks to haul a huge wet saw for a few minor cuts. Is your tubbing attached to a pump in a bucket of water?

I have a garden hose hooked up to the valve on the grinder. Standard brass valve typically used for swamp coolers.

Little dust thanks to water? Can i spray water on the concrete to be sanded so as not to create too much dust, since my grinder is not water-based and does not have a cap to suck up the dust and also has a single speed of 11,000 rpm.

You can, but once the water is absorbed into the dust (which happens fast), you get dust.
@gatsbylight47662 жыл бұрын
Or... you can split the difference between the two ideas: If you just spray water on the concrete, it will get absorbed quickly. But, if you want to build a water streamer like here in this video, you'll have to spend the time to fabricate it. Or, instead of _spraying_ water on the concrete, you could point a small water tube (like the one in this video) at the concrete (or low-flow a regular water hose). It's the same amount of water as the streamer, so it won't get absorbed quickly. When you're grinding concrete, you're usually grinding in one small area at a time, so you'd only have to move the water hose occasionally. This method is particularly easy when grinding horizontal surfaces (floors), and you'll just need to get a clip to clip the water hose above a vertical surface that you are grinding when grinding vertically surfaces.
