I made one of those as a first year apprentice 50 years ago , still got it and it has been quite useful over the years. The design of mine was different in that the frame was a casting in cast iron. There must have been thousands of these made bt apprentices.

Hi Andy. l appreciate you watching and commenting. Yes I think this project has been around for years. This one has been taught at the TAFE where I work for probably that time as well. Thought it would be good project to share here with the viewers on KZbin. Also to help the apprentices make it as they can watch my video reference first before "stuffing it up" (joke). Cheers, Aaron.

VERY good technical presentation mate. Clear, logical, and detailed appropriately ( IMHO) 😎 The Polytech is lucky to have you mate . Regards Robert (Apprentice F&T 1966-1971….. yes, they were five year apprenticeships back then 😵💫)

G'day Robert. Once again grasshopper master you are too kind. I try hard mate, but as always still much to learn. Wish you lived closer to me. You could volunteer 1/2 or 1 day per week to pass on some of that knowledge before it vanishes. Talk soon Robert. Regards, Aaron.

Nice work Aaron. It always looks so much easier when someone else is doing all the work 👍

G'day Aaron. Another Excellent Tutorial Video. The vice is starting to take shape into a very nice precision unit. Well done, catch you on the next Installment. Ted

Hi Ted. Thanks for the positive feedback mate. It’s coming along nicely. Should make for a good little vice to have at the drill press or small hobby mill. 👍🍻

Thank you Denny. It's a TAFE project that we build with the apprentices. Thought I'd make one myself. One to show all you guys, and two to help the apprentices plan. Cheers, Aaron.

Hello Aaron, Nice to see you can read a vernier caliper (scale) and not digital readout... Not many of us left - lol. Take care. Paul,,

Hey Paul. That’s a very good point. I’ve got a student apprentice who I catch all the time with his digital verniers refusing to use a micrometer 🤦
