If you have expensive home decor taste like me, recreating your favourite art is a great money-saver and very therapeutic. Sharing how I created a dupe for this Japanese-inspired abstract wall art. Hope you find it helpful! ig: lexakarlyn

It's so relaxing watching people paint and draw. Well done Alexandra. And that's a perfect spot to put your art. It goes well with the color wall and sofa😊

I LOVE this piece!! I also can't explain why, but the more I see it the more I love it. I also have to say that I appreciate all your reminders throughout the video... they hit home for me. I say these things to others all the time because I think its all so true, but I can't seem to apply them to myself, and I need to work on that. I talk myself out of drawing or painting because I'll mess it up or do it wrong and it will be a waste of supplies.... but, I guess even if I hate it later, at the moment it was what I felt and needed to get out and I need to respect that the same way I absolutely would with another persons art. Its just so hard to allow myself those same kindnesses... I know so many feel the same. So.... I really needed those reminders, especially right now. I have a piece I need to do as a gift for my son in his first apt... trying to decide what direction to go so want to give him some options cuz I want him to have what fits his style, not mine :) I need to stop overthinking it.... I need to let it be fun and a release which is why I started teaching myself to draw and paint a few yrs back... Anyway... sorry for the ridiculously long comment 😊 but, the painting and your reminders just hit me so hard, in a good way🥺😭 good tears :) I need a happy crying face!! :) Thank you!!! Tryly!!

I love this so much. Thanks for taking the time to share. You're so right, it can be so hard to be kind to ourselves. Art is such a pure expression of where we're at, what we long for, where we've been and where we're going. You get to be really vulnerable...I think that scares us sometimes. If someone doesn't like it, does it mean they don't like us? At the end of the day, we have to put ourselves out there, not for acceptance, but because we're the only ones who can create that exact piece. I think that's extremely beautiful in itself. With that in mind, you really can't go wrong.

@@AlexandraKarlyn Ok, first off... tryly?!?!? Oy!🤦🏻♀️ yea, my new health situation has me running, not very well, on 1 lung and I swear I'm extra tired and punchy which is saying something for me!!😂🤣🙄🤣😂 Anyway, I absolutely agree with everything you said :) it's easy to build others up, because you want others to feel good about themselves and whatever it is that they're working on in their life since we want the best for others. But it just isn't easy for me to give those things to myself, in any area of my life. And at almost 50, thats embarrassing. But, I'm working on it and art, even when I don't love it or get frustrated with myself over it, it's still something I absolutely need as part of my life. With my health, the majority of the time, especially the recent months after a botched shoulder surgery, I'm unable to do much as far as being up and around. So KZbin and artist like yourself have given me the opportunity to at least watch art being made so that I can stay focused on beautiful positive things to keep my head from the dark places it naturally goes. I get so many ideas and plan out the next things I want to work on when I have a day here and there when I have a bit of energy and have pain at a semi tolerable level so that I can stand for a bit to paint. I try to keep paper near me all the time to draw when my hands work. So I really appreciate all the effort that goes into making these!! Like you said, we need to be more kind to ourselves :) I'm blessed to have a sweet husband and we have an amazingly kind son... but, I almost had a very different outcome because of how I feel about myself. And truly, if we aren't kind to ourselves, it can be easy to surround yourself with others that reinforce that feeling. So we need to be kind to ourselves so that we realize we're also worthy of others being kind to us. I know... I'm saying to myself "easy to say dummy!" Aahahahahaha but, I really need to get a grip on it... I thought I did a bit until recent events which have thrown me a bit. Anyway... be kind, in general of course, but definitely to ourselves.. and push to try new wonderful things because regardless of the outcome you learn something about yourself about what you like or don't, then you can work on the things you like :) I'm hoping to be able to be up enough to do a couple pours for my son today... hoping it'll cure in time🙄🤦🏻♀️ but... just gotta push through :) Thanks again for everything 😊

This is amazing. If you dont mind, could you please share the type of paint you used. Did you use a primer first ? Also, the BM dove wing is an latex paint I believe. Can we mix latex and acrylic ? sorry I am a newbie here
@AlexandraKarlyn Жыл бұрын
I did not use a primer as the canvas had been previously painted. I would recommend using an acrylic primer and finishing the painting with a glaze to avoid cracking.

How did you create the texture?
@AlexandraKarlyn2 жыл бұрын
It was a previous painting that I had done on that canvas. Used acrylic paint to achieve that texture. I also painted over some of the tape for added texture.
@belindamartinez844111 ай бұрын
Hard to read your text. The letters are too thin and it's on white unable to read what it's saying. 🙄 Maybe make the letters a little darker or thicker. Thnx😊

I disagree. There is a lot of bad art in the world. Especially watching an ART BASEL gallery show I have watched on KZbin.
