most probably your pipe is block with clay. Make a "water lance" strong PVC pipes that will fit inside the steel pie . Cut the end of it with a 45 degree as a pen nib. Other end attach a water hose with very good pressure. Gently lower the lance to the blockage and bit by bit move the lance on the blockage. the water coming down will keep the lance clear and move the clay up and out of the steel pipe. Good luck ! This works in Western Australia where most house have ground water to water gardens

Also - I don’t mean to sound stupid - but here goes - if you’re taking a pipe and pounding it down into dirt, clay, rocks - doesn’t that said pipe just fill up with all the dirt, clay, and rocks??? I’ve never done it - I’m truly interested in how that even works!! Looks like you’re in a great place to dig the well - with all the water filling in the hole. So that looks promising!! Good luck!! I hope I get answered on how this is gonna work??!

I don’t know if you’ve heard of the Bushradical channel here on KZbin. He has a video dated about 2 years ago about digging and installing a Yellow Antique Hand Pump Well (dated June 2022). I’ve seen other hand pump wells he’s done. His wife’s channel, A Girl In The Woods, has also a video that she did. Hopefully one of these will help.

Usually the shallow wells are just used to water animals nowadays because the water can vary quite a bit. Never had to drive a well pipe but that slide hammer is usually the best wat to do it(manually). I'd use a sacrificial pipe nipple and cap. Maybe they have like a mini pile driver that works off of compressed air you can rent. You might want to use the divining rods (witch sticks) to help locate the best spot for your well. Just because a place is wet doesn't mean it's water that you want (plus it may only be on the surface). If you have access to a Jack Hammer you might be able to rig up a way to drive the pipe without damaging it. Good luck guys, hope you feel better!

There is a channel called The Nomadic Movement, they're a young American couple living on a mountain property in Panama and they're also off grid. They didn't dig a well but they used a water source that trickled out of the mountain and made like a little dam for it and it would fill and they were able to get the water back up the mountain to fill their water tanks. Maybe watch some of the videos they made for water. But also you could reach out to them they're the sweetest kindest couple.

Hook your Bluetti (sp) to a pump at the pond and water jet the well pipe in...there's a few videos on YT to show how to do it. Most homesteaders don:t have a water source close enough, so they drive shallow wells. I grew up drinking from a shallow well for the first 18 years of life...just make sure it tests safe. A few extra minerals don't hurt.

To get the pipe out of the ground, put a choker sling around it (chain or strap) and pull up with the tractor. I found in E. KY that one must have teeth on ones tractor bucket to assist in road construction. The backhoe and toothed bucket can build a road by themselves. The teeth bar, pirahna bar, is bolt on, and so are some chain anchor points. Upgrade the bucket to do more work instead of buying more equipment.

If you hit a big enough rock, or bedrock, the well pipe is not going any deeper. You might be better using a large diameter post hole digger with a bunch of extensions and just keep drilling to make a surface well, then line it with a filer cloth then fill it with large rocks. The water will fill between the rocks and you will get some ground water, but it might only be dirty water needing to be filtered and treated.

Have put cheap bores holes over many years, if you are. using 1 inch pipe get a length of 1/2 inch pipe that will fit inside. Get a pump and and pump water down the 1 inch, this will act like a drill and put a pilot hole in the ground. This system is called a s SPEAR BORE. Hope this will solve your problem Bob from Australia ( now living in Thailand)

Hi Cody, since you dug a hole already and have water to use.. Rent a trash pump hooked up to 3/4 or 1/2 in pipe pinched off on 1 end with threaded ends to add more pipe as you go and use that pipe inside your well pipe to blast your way down, you should be able to push your well pipe down as you open up the hole under it unless you're hitting rock which the pressure pipe would tell you..

I don't know what your water system is now, but when we first moved to our place 39 years ago, we had a precast concrete cistern set in the ground and a jet pump that pumped water into our house. I had a 325 gallon poly tank I carried in my truck bed and just picked up water on the way home from work as needed. We're happy to be on rural water now, but we hauled water to our place many years.

Look at water jetting a pipe. Especially if you have the pond as a source. Will very likely be your least work option. What I did was drive a 2" Sand point 25 or 27' or so then dropped 1 1/4" pvc pipe into it with a foot valve on bottom. The fittings are just a hair large diameter so use a belt sander to shave outside circumference off a bit. To fit smooth through pipe. Then at top just use a 2" cap with hole drilled for pipe to exit. Then a male pipe fitting goes inside of cap up through then screw on a female fitting with a Tee. A branch of Tee is on top so you get vertical access into pvc pipe for priming fast, water treatment etc. The pump inlet pipe runs off the horizontal of Tee, use a threaded fitting so the well section all stays there and in place. The pump inlet pipe can be cut or replaced easily by just unscrewing etc without really interrupting well drop pipe
@mrmotofy
@mrmotofy 3 ай бұрын
I forgot to mention with a drop pipe down in the larger 2" well pipe you don't have thread leak issues. Once the drive pipe is ready figure out your pvc pipe length and use 10' sticks...you get minimal joints for most wells.

We had no luck driving a sand point. The threads on the pipe(made in china) kept distorting and leaked making it impossible to prime and use pitcher pump. Ended up using post digger, rotary hand kind, and emptying every 6 inches. Installed 4 inch pvc pipe with saw slots on bottom section, toilet flange on top for pitcher pump. Use your 1 1/4 inch pipe as your draw tube. Good luck

If the shallow hole has water then dig a big hole like 15-20 ft around and as deep as possible. Line the hole with fabric and put a perferated pipe in the hole. Then dump lots of crusher run rocks in the hole. Then wrap the fabric around the top of the rocks. Then cover the top with dirt. essentially creating a void for water to fill in. The water will fill up the pipe and then put a sump pump in the hole to pump the water out. ambition strikes did this.

If you watch videos of drilling wells they add water with a trash pump, you can rent them probably gonna need it for a week,do the research, also you can use lengths of pvc say around 4inch take and cut slits in the end you're gonna drive down so it looks like an auger,use the trash pump at the same time twisting back n forth and down pressure, once you get into sand (20 to 25 ft) then put your medal sand point down and drive it even farther,hope this helps?

I use a turn style post hole digger w/ 1 inch pipe that threads into it. It accepts threaded pipe and has a handle on top. You turn it in a circle and lift it out of your hole. I have done 4 wells this way. I can get down to about 15ft. then pound the rest of the way. Make sure you put a hardened cap on when you pound. Use pipe thread compound on your couplings. And after you pound turn your pipe to make sure they are not loosening up.

First thing to mention, these suction type hand pumps are only good for about 25 foot deep wells. You can try this. You may get lucky but I doubt it. One of you pour water into the top of the spout while the other pumps the handle. You need to cause a suction any time the pump dries out or If the prime in the head dries out or the water drains down into the pipe. Also if you leave the handle up when not in use it will drain. At the beginning you were not as deep so the pump evidently was strong enough to suck water. The pump looks new. Depending on how much you will use the pump you will find you will have to replace the leather seals in the head. you are doing a lot of extra work for nothing. With that pond up above there should be plenty of water down below. You can still try 25 feet of pipe. You did get water before. The two of you make a cute construction crew! 👩‍🏭👷 Good luck. Hope yuall are feeling better.

It would be much easier to uncover the chicken run if connected the plastic to a pipe at the ground on one side. Then you can roll the plastic up and over the run to other side. Also you could connect rope on one side of the run under the plastic and use it to roll the plastic like a roll up window blind, if that makes sense?

It looks like your water source is above 7 feet. If your backhoe can dig down 6 feet or a little more and you dig out about 8 foot diameter, you should see where your water source is flowing from. You might need to pump out water with a sump pump to see where your water is flowing from. Then install a 6 foot diameter culvert 6 foot deep and that should give you about 1200 gallons of water. When I was a kid growing up that is all we had as a water source. Some summers it would get low, but it never ran dry. Good luck. I do enjoy your KZbin channel 😊 I'm watching from Saudi Arabia

The USGS website has online maps on wells that you can look up in your area to get a general idea of how deep everything is and where they're located. Also you could try just digging a hole with the Kubota as deep as you can go then use a post hole digger and finally hammer in pipe. That could probably get you around 18 feet down.

I put down a 2 inch point well. Bank won't call it a well unless it's at least 2 inches. You can get a 2 stroke water pump like the Amish use. Even a small 2 stroke water pump can push water up to 50 feet vertically and over 300 horizontally. Put a check value in the pipe to keep from priming. I had to go 25 feet down. My well flows up to 2 feet. If the hole is filling go deeper you should be able get your well to flow. It took me 3 days of pounding to drive mine. I added weight to the ponder to make it like 50 lbs. Bolted a square tube on top and added old window weights in it. I have enough flow I can hook a stand pipe and ram pump to my well. The water loving plants told me where to put the well. I dug a seep in a wet spot. We now call it the frog pond. Actually have washed up in the frog pond. But it was only seeping at a certain layer close to the surface. I had to go closer to our spring. Do you have any cotton wood or willow? Might want to try by them.

Grab a magnet at HF or RK next time you're there. Just carry it with you for stuff like the staples (keeping it close may catch staples as you pull them) put a rope to it and you can pick up nails etc.
