I got one of those MKR 1010 units for free at a local IoT conference. It was like a little maker con but focused entirely on IoT and sponsored by a lot of the big companies (google, arduino, etc) giving out free stuff. the MKR board was included as part of the panel/class on how to set them up, so there was a whole kit - breadboard, servo, humidity sensor, MKR obviously, and some other goodies. All in all, I had a lot of fun, and even though I didn't really "get" all the cloud stuff very well (it's hard for me to learn new systems sometimes) it's proved to be the best arduino I've ever owned.

There is a high chance I also got this one for free but don't remember exactly. Compared to traditional Arduino UNO it's a totally different board, way more powerful but still as easy to use, I really do like MKR series :)

Idea is good but result is terrible if using 5v pumps. I just make similar to myself and put it into bigger pots. I got water in one place like a 10cm D and water level is 1m lower than a pot. Now im adding sprinkler but i wont think pumps will hold preasure. If pumps are changed to 220v ones like for small water wells and used 1/2 or 3/4 tubes with regular garden sprinklers than we are talking about something. Same issue i see in video, sprinkler is not spraying but dropping water and also area is too small.

is it safe to cover with silicone or something, on top of that board, when everything is connected and ready? I have an itch to just pour a lot of construction sealing silicone (you know the one used for sealing bathroom sink from water) so the water and humidity on the farm will not eat up all this board in a year (or in a season 😅) would it be safe for the electronics of the board? (without touching the parts that are heating, only the "flip side" where all connections are soldered)

Thanks for your videos. I'm planning to build something similar but at a smaller scale, so I'm basing it on this video and your older one. If I may ask, how much pressure can this little pump output? All the irrigation kits I've seen require around 1.5 bars of pressure, but these pumps usually can put out 0.5 bar.

It's pi pico, it's a microcontroller from raspberry pi not a full raspberry pi with linux on it.

What was your reason for using a water barrel instead of connecting it to the water supply line? You seem to have one in reach. I've recently used the Gardena Micro-Drip system. Works pretty well, but some parts are pretty expensive. Did you also 3D print the adjustable sprinkler pieces? Or are those off-the-shelf components? Also, I've read that even those capacitive moisture sensors aren't perfect, since the capacitance does not only change with water, but also with other factors like minerals in the soil or water. Would be interesting to see how they behave long-term.
