I know you use 20 gauge Artistic Wire. If I were to use sterling silver or copper wire, what temper of wire would I use - would it be Dead Soft?

If you use a stiffer wire it should be good. I like the non-tarnish brass in 20 gauge and you can also use half hard sterling. For stiffer pendant use 18 gauge. Good luck!

I bought the red pliers 30 years ago and this exact pair is no longer available. I bought them in a hardware store in the fishing department. Apparently Zebra and Tronex are good brands for pliers. Good luck.

I use round nose pliers and flat nose pliers (sometimes called needle nose) 20 gauge wire is the best for the letters

Be sure your pliers are a smooth metal and try to do as much manipulating of the wire with your hands rather than your pliers. I'll try to do a Tip Tuesday tutorial about this soon since I get a lot of inquiries about it! Thank you, Heather.

You have to put loops at the top on either end so it hangs down. Hope this helps.

If you use decent pliers made with smooth metal and go gently with them you should be fine. One tip is to hold the wire with the pliers and do a lot of the bending with your hand. You can also buy nylon tipped pliers if you have problems.

Just seeing this Melissa. The Artistic Copper wire by Beadalon is tarnish resistant. 24 gauge is a bit thin. I use 20 gauge for the pendants (the lower the gauge the thicker the wire).

Thank you Aafiya. I use 20 gauge wire for the names. Tarnish resistant brass or copper by Beadalon is my fav. You can also your silver in half hard.

Hi Autumn: You would need round nose and flat nose (needle nose) pliers and 20 gauge. I like the Artistic Copper tarnish resistant wire.

I just came across this amazing tutorial after I bought 22 gauge wire...the only thing there was next to 18 gauge...i just read you use 20. Is 22 pretty too? Im so bummed that I didn’t saw this earlier 🥺

I used Artistic non tarnish brass wire which is a bit harder than their copper wire. Probably half hard is good.
