❣DIY Witch House Using Cardboard❣

I made witch house recycling some cardboard from some boxes I had laying around. I only bought the colors, the hot glue and a little piece of craft foam that I used for the hinges. It took me about five days to finish.
I started by drawing and cutting the cardboard walls of the house. Then I made the cardboard roof and another smaller roof over the entrance. I added some basic elements like the chimney, the windows and the door. When the basic shape was finished I started adding the smaller details like roof tiles and small wooden boards all over the surface of the house. I tried to place them in a crooked manner to make the witch house look realistically old and messy. I added some bricks to the chimney and also made flooring and and door details using the same kind of cardboard. For the hinges I used a little piece of craft foam I had. I made the textured wood using a ball pen and pressing the wooden pattern deep in the cardboard. I also made some holes in the cardboard for each wooden board so it looks like it has nails. This texture adds such a nice realistic effect and it helps a lot in the next step when adding color and patina. Painting the little house was fun. Remember I told you about the texture? Here's how it works. I cover the surface in a dark color first. Then I add a very bright color or even white, but only to the surface of the texture, so I get a nice contrast. On top of that bright color you can add other colors as well. I made the door red and the roof green but you can play around with any color combination you like. 🤦🏻‍♀️People asking for measurements and templates are COMPLETELY missing the point of this free form craft. The crafty mom made this amazing house WITHOUT a template or measuring with a ruler. This should inspire you to just go for it! If a wall or roof piece doesn't fit, then so what?🤷🏻‍♀️Just cut it to fit, it's just cardboard. There is NO MEASURING except by eye. She is showing you the way to create with freedom!☺️ If you have to ask for a pattern then you shouldn't try this. Just admire her work and move on.🤨

As soon as I seen this I scoured the house for all cardboard I could find. 5 days later it’s built! I need to paint it next but my wife loves this project so much she wanted to get in on helping. Since she loves to paint canvas art , I asked if she would like to do the honors to bring it alive. Needless to say , she was excited 😆 about that! Thank you ! Love to share what we have done!

Beautiful work. As a graphic designer in my past, I can tell, the most fun works are those without need to be accurate. Works in free-hand, no roolers, no centimeters, no compass, just to be free. Like a free drawing. This BEAUTIFUL old house is one of these works. Looking like a house from old children story... You build it as if you DRAW the house. Free, no measures, no blue print, no plan. ​@@discool146if you freeze the frame, you can use a tape measure. And math. But you won't think or do what you need. The data is there. It's not her job, she shares her talent! It can be any size, I'm making one for my cats, much larger. Besides, it's only cardboard!! You can make a million cut parts and it costs nothing! Thro the wrong sizes away ( recycle!) and add more if it's not right. My goodness. It's not rocket science! lol!

Cardboard is so underrated as a medium to use in model building. Its either plastic or clay or wood. but cardboard is everywhere and the awesome thing about its free material wise. its amazing what you can do with some cardboard, hot glue, and some paint. I do this technique in model making as a tool or to create a still life for my illustration work. I can literally create whole scenes by building a cardboard diorama. And I can create the scene I want. Its the perfect medium to work in.

Хорошая работа. Архитектура дома очень понравилась. Но крышу такой ярко-зелёной не нужно было делать, хватило бы едва заметного тёмно-зелёного. И красная дверь смотрится не совсем уместно. В остальном - высший пилотаж. Руки из плеч растут)
