🔷 ABOUT US 🔷
We're a DIY family building our "forever homestead" from 15 acres of raw undeveloped land in Tennessee. All of our content is family friendly and safe for everyone to enjoy.
Today we begin building our off grid solar array for our new homestead. We will be running everything from solar panels and a generator for a while. Today I build a ground mount solar panel stand, sometimes called a ground mount solar array. This is step one of building our off grid renewable energy home power setup.

For the upper and lower connections of those slanted 2 x 4's I'd attach those with some galvanized roof truss or even joist hanger brackets. You can find them to fit most angles you'd need. The way you have it attached with just a few screws isn't likely to hold for very long.

The trick to putting water in a hole to soften the dirt is: Wait for the dirt to get soft. You have to wait a while. It's not an instant trick. Speaking from Arizona where the ground is rock hard and can bend a shovel unless you wet it.

think by the time you need to build the sheds for the woodworking and soap production youre going to need a posthole digger mounted to a tractor , basicly to be able to dig through the roots and rock in the ground , should be able to float the solar array , just need to ut a lot of weight on it to prevent it falling / being blown over would add a few pieces of wood diagonally in the frame to firm it up some and for the weight you could set the batteries inside it

That's a really good idea to double-dip that chip! I may have to steal it. LOL Extra bonus is the firewood would further help to keep everything in place! Maybe you'll appreciate this, since you're also building on bare land. Isn't the hardest thing deciding where to put this stuff? It's so difficult working with a blank canvas and thinking of putting down something permanent! At least I struggle with it. LOL Hours and hours just thinking "is this the spot, what about that, okay at what angle". LOL

@@sam-and-angela Sam use paper. Draw your land to scale. Then draw on different color construction paper & cut out your workshop/greenhouse, Angela's soapshack, and all other buildings you want/have to be moved to/or build on the new property. Move them onto your paper property until you like the set up/flow. This way you have a plan & know where you want each item of your infrastructure.
