What fun! My husband inherited my Father’s sanding belt machine so I am off to the garage! My Granddad was a carpenter so I love wood!

Thank you too! Almost 90% of all the tools I use, are made by me. Cheers!

Thank you! It is actually so easy. The kind of wood is the most important, if You use wrong wood it will only crack after a few times. The darkest days are here, on 21th of December it will turn and we will get a few more minutes of daylight. Cheers! Mika

Well I am here because manufacturers just don't make good tools for sculptors. They are not made with care or precision and the wood is often of poor quality. A very good video on a subject few discuss. My only question is how would one begin the shaping process without a sandbelt, a knife or a spokeshave perhaps?

Yes! You are so right! I started making my tools with a knife and a jigsaw, when I actually found them better than massproducerad ones, I stepped up to a beltsander etc. The best tool by far is the one I make out of old window wipers. Check that out Dean, if you haven't yet. Cheers from dark old Finland!
