is there a reason that youtubers now do these "premiere in xx days" things for something that isn't a live session? personally, i do find it a bit frustrating

They actually work well in the YT world as one aspect is they allow the viewer to "schedule" the event while "browsing". Its like picking the shows you want to watch when you have time per-say. If premiered correctly, your view count will typically increase by 30% or so which is quite a bit. A lot of this is due to the way the YT has dumbed down the "discovery" feature as to not trigger people with content which they might find offensive. So a premiere is like wading slowly into the water as gives YT time to test the content and to reward the creator, YT seems to promote the content more in the "discovery" feature when premiered which is critical for small YT channels such as mine. In short, unless you play by YT rules, you don't get to play. Also thanks for asking in a constructive manner as I sincerely appreciate that! :-)
