There is no way in hell I would drive a vehicle with a flywheel welded or modified. Working in the auto industry, I have seen flywheels come apart and destroy everything in their path, including legs.

It’s not the proper way of centering work piece to a lathe machine. Dial indicator is the best way tool in centering in a lathe machine and it should be centered on the inside diameter of the work piece which is not altered. And since it was a part of a rotating equipment, it should be balanced in a balancing machine before re installation.

1st drill it sideways and bolted and then cut V deep groove on both sides, and then fill it with good weld .
