Yes you can. Apply a single thick coat, else the ball may absorb water and get wet.

If you do not want to use sand paper, roll the ball slowly and gently between two surfaces until you get your desired finish. (one surface could be a table and the other surface could be your hand. You will get better results if you roll the sphere on top of a dry news paper. Change the paper when the paper is wet, and repeat the process few times). You have to do this whole process when the sphere is around 85%dry. If the ball is too wet, it will break while rolling. If the ball is completely dry, you will have to use sand paper to smoothen it. Hope this helps. Let me know if you need any other clarification.

Do it slowly and gently when the ball is around 90% dry. It will be hard after drying completely.

Sunlight is the safest and easiest option. You can use hot pan for 5-10 mins to make the sphere a little stronger.

Yes, you can. It will be hard to insert sticks when the ball is completely dry. Make sure you insert the sticks when the ball is around 95% dry.

It will be very light weight after drying completely. Paper ball of diameter 12cm will be around 50gms after drying completely. This is not the exact weight. (its my guess, with the large sphere shown in the video)

Yes. After drying completely, cut the sphere into 2 equal halves using a hack saw blade (Cut it very slowly and gently. Else, you may break the sphere)
