It is amazing how much that floating bed looks like a waterbed frame from back in the day. I do have one suggestion to make for your design. Add some drawers to the lower stand for extra storage. It will add a little to the cost, but it will make use of valuable space under the bed.

i love the simplicity. those with pets might think about putting a plywood strip along the sides underneath so they don't get inside the pedestal.
