So I had over 100 feet of edging to install to keep mulch off of our driveway and sidewalks. Your video was a great help! I remembered I had a mason's hammer in my toolbox. It worked great and I even put a piece of electrical tape around the handle so measure the depth as I went along. Thanks again for your video.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I’ve been searching for an instructional video all day today to finish my edging project. I got the heavy duty stuff from Home Depot, just like what you’re using. It says “no dig,” but I was digging all day and got stuck on what to do next. Now I feel confident going in to finish it up tomorrow.

I just installed about 40 ' of this same edging. I wish I had seen your video last week b4 I did it. I did everything very similar to what you did but didn't use the stakes. My edging was between the flower bed and a sidewalk concrete edge. I used it to keep the mulch from getting all over the sidewalk. One side came out pretty smooth, but the other side was a little wavy. I hit a great deal of gravel from the sidewalk .

Thank you for this video. I'm actually putting some edging in tomorrow, my biggest fear is trying to cut it without having a hacksaw. I may try my big utility knife, even thought about trying my reciprocating saw, I just don't know yet.....My 3rd big project outside in past month, hopefully my last one for the season. @@DIYJIM Thanks! It did turn out great! I was so worried about trying to cut the stiff 10' pc. of black edging. I decided to see if it would bend enough to curve it, so when that was do able, it turned out, the 10' was perfect length for the area. So, all that worrying, about being able to cut it, cutting myself accidentally, etc....I got the area done. Only thing left, is to figure out how to get a heavy, "certain looking" landscape rock to finish it! It'll be so easy now to follow the curve to mow around!!! Have a great weekend!

A reciprocating saw would make short work of cutting the edging.

If you don't want to pay $3.49 each for the sheet metal stakes, just buy some pressure treated 2x2's and cut them to a 10-12 inch length or longer if the soil is soft/loose and use a 2 pound hammer to drive them in place behind the edging material and then you can use galvanized or ceramic coated screws to attach the edging to the stake. Drive your stakes in no more than halfway down the width of the edging so you'll have good support. If you have problems with it staying in place you can pour a small amount of concrete around the stake behind the edging so later on it will be covered with mulch.

Uh, he put the edging WAY TOO LOW. If you do it like this guy, in a few short yrs, your sod will be FAAAAAR ABOVE the top, rounded portion of the edging.
