Extra tip: Why not use reusable ice cubes? (The ones that are basically plastic with water inside of them) That way theres no danger of water getting into the motor, They wont melt and drop to the bottom of the bottle, and will actually work longer than normal Ice cubes. I'm going to give this a try later!

Guys the steps are simple: 1.Take a bottle cut half its bottom and make small holes its body. 2.Attach it to the fan and put ice in it 3.Switch on ur AC

Great Idea! Tried it myself and worked brilliant. Only suggest setting up a drain system so that you don't have to undo the caps to empty the remaining water from melted ice cubes. I think any idea is better than not doing anything at all. Good on you for having a go! :)

To accomplish this, just get a tube and put a hole through the bottle caps. Super glue this tube in the cap. Make sure it is long enough for a window. You may need an additional tube for air circulation to not worry about the water clogging. Though, I doubt it. Should work fine.

You know what else that works, pretty well using this same concept? Take a large juice jug, fill it with water and freeze it. Place the frozen container on top of a crate or a rack with a catch bowl underneath and place a fan behind it and turn it on. The Fan will blow the chilled air around the container towards the person, and as the ice melts in the container the catch bowl will catch the condensation that drips off the bottle which depending on how humid your room is can catch quite a bit of water. Afterwards you can just refreeze the container, and dump out the condense water. It may not cool a whole house but it works well for a small apartment room. It'll cool and dehumidify as well.

If I may suggest, can you put a thermometer in front of the fan to check if the air temperature went down after the project? Room temperature should have been measured before and after the experiment so that you would have an idea if the project works or not. Good job though👍👍👍

@@DB-pv2ej I don't think this method really works, if you want to give it a shot. Freeze like four water bottles and yes you can refreeze them, instead of tying them to the fan set it on a table and put the water bottles in front of the fan where at least the cold water bottles might work a little bit better but who knows. A window A/C might be a better option to keep cool.

It would be better to use a smaller frozen bottle of water inside a bigger empty bottle of water that had the holes, etc. like the ones attached to the fan. First, less leakage from condensation that collects outside the water bottle which drips on the floor. Second, the ice inside the frozen water bottle wouldn't melt as quickly.

Gerrod Phillips Are you guys fucking morons? The term "Heat transfer" works both ways, it has to absorb heat which the ice does as it melts before it can feel cool. The only way to produce cooling is by taking heat out of the area. It's fucking impossible to generate cold without first removing heat. Heat can be directly generated, cold cannot. Plastic is still a poor option, aluminum cans or even glass would be more effective.

@plumber1337
@plumber1337 7 жыл бұрын
+TruAnRksT You never heard of Dry/Humid Air, if you're talking like that. The idea is not to take the heat out of the room through the process of "heat transfer to the ice", but to "humidify the air being blown", the higher the humidity and speed of wind the cooler it gets.

1) that's not how an air conditioner works 2) this can possibly make you feel fresh at first but then it will humidify the air and make you sweat even more
@5Siver
@5Siver 6 жыл бұрын
hadron89 you missed the point. Air temperature is one factor that would make you sweat but water saturation of air is also another factor. The more humid is the air the less it can dry your sweat so a hot dry air can make you feel better than a 'cooler' humid air.
@5Siver
@5Siver 6 жыл бұрын
hadron89 you're throwing numbers without any scientific base and then you're answering based on your own rather inaccurate assumptions. I agree that there is a sweet spot where al ittle water to cool down could be better but my point is that this can't be applied blindly because in some cases too much water will be worse eventually.

There is a slight, slight change, which another person who didn't craft this will not even notice ( lol maybe the slight cooling is my placebo effect) but I'm going to try with metal soda cans.
