My husband is a carpenter and in the past he has used masking tape and laid it on the board where he will cut. Once the tape is placed, draw the line on the tape and cut. The tape will help to reduce those tiny flakes of wood.

Well I don't know who brings more to this channel. Dean with his comic relief, a super power that is so strong he can make a sad day go away in the blink of an eye. Or you Andrea, and your super power of taking on any DIY project and making it look so effortlessly awesome, any beginner can start and complete a project with ease. So, this channel has become an entity of it's own, and so much bigger than what it started out to be . I have renamed this channel, I now call it "Dean- drea " Television Show.

Just a tip from working with plywood, I always put painter’s tape over my cut line this helps with the chipping.

the little cracks of which are the result of the jig-saw can be avoided in two ways (shure some times fixing them later is simpler) a) put Maskingtape on before the cut b) clamping some spare material on top before cutting.

Are you going to extend the shelf divider down the front like you did the trim? I feel like the trim looks really odd with nothing behind it on the bottom. I’m excited to see the final reveal. And all of the in between as well!!

That was the original plan but there are outlets RIGHT in the middle of the back! We decided to wait and see how it looks painted and with books on it. If it looks funny then it'll be relatively easy to go ahead and add it!

You could put an half arch opening (going from front to back of shelf with the back open) to accommodate the outlets and it would play off the other arches in the room. I’ve seen it done with the arch being in the front, but it could still work with the arch in back.🤷‍♀️😘

I saw the outlets and thought that might be an issue. It would be easy to add the middle divider or “trim the trim” so to speak, if you don’t like how it looks when complete. Thanks for the reply! Love your channel.
