If you have a 4x4 you can put it in 4 wheel drive and it will hold it while you loosen them. also you may want to brake loose the axle nut before you jack it up. had to do this 2 times on mine so far, caliper failure the second time just a full brake job first time. BIGGEST pain in the butt brake job i have ever done, allow about an hour and 1/2 per side. if you are over 40 and never done it before. the tip about turning the wheel is straight on point no other way. i had both of mine off at the same time so when i turned left i took off 2 bolts on each side, the same for right. cuts down on turning back and forth. Disconnect the abs sensors before you get started either pull the clips out or unsnap the clips. u have to fish that through between the axle and the knuckle. not fun by yourself. this fella did a good job and made it look easy, seriously, allow extra time. this isn't a jack it up and knock it out in an hour job. Helps to have a helping hand to fish the cable through and putting the rotor and hub assembly back on. a bobble extension will allow you to get to the "unreachable" bolt. best invention ever made. a yellow bottle torch will help with the rust. I also use the jack handle as a cheater bar for my breaker bar, yes sometimes they are that tight. THumbs up good job on the ol truck, been meaning to vids for years, but never seem to have the time. when my stuff goes its always at the worst time and i cant afford the down time to set up camera and such.

First off thanks for the video!!!! On the 4×4 you can easily remove all four wheel bearing bolts in the rear by simply undoing the outer tie rod and swinging the knuckle for access and remove with a swivel and socket But you do have to remove the knuckle to get the axle out of the way to properly install the new bearing with ABS do not separate the ABS ring from the bearing to remove knuckle undo both upper and lower ball joint nuts no need to remove the three upper ball joint to arm nuts.

I changed out my wheel hub assembly with speed sensors , brakes , disc and drum rotors months ago and now I'm getting my abs light on....I feel/hear a scrapping scratching sound when I first take off and try to stop or slow down and the brake pedal won't fully compress...at the same time im hearing a machine buzzing sound like something won't disengage or catch behind the steering column brake pedal area but after several attempts it goes away and I'm able to brake without that nasty noise and feeling. My brake and rotors look fine like nothing is wearing uneven nor a foreign body present. WHATS GOING ON with my 2008 GMC Canyon 4x4 ?

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. It’s very possible that your caliper is in its early stages of failure. what was the solution to your problem
@k.o.r.e39972 жыл бұрын
@@villar8777 It was my ABS Control Pump and Module assembly. FYI they are SOLD OUT online and not in production so the junkyard is where I found mine. The ABS Control pump was the issue with mine but I replaced the whole assembly since it comes attached and I wanted to be sure I eliminated both possible issues. The part was about $60 at my local junkyard but the labor is what will get ya if u don't have the time or don't know how to properly service brake lines (bleed/purge) and reconnect the individual hoses on the ABS pump. I really love my little GMC Canyon 4x4 but I didn't do the research before buying as to how many brake issues these came with and how hard it is to find parts. My next search is a 4x4 lift kit of about 4inches which is also a journey to middle earth to find and probably an exhaust system (easy to aquire) to go along with my leaky exhaust manifold letting toxic fumes into my AC vents...lol Good luck yall !

Okay so I did a swap out of the sensor not knowing and also ordering from amazon where it says front wheel speed sensor. But as I installed it, it was very clearly for the left side not the right side that I was working on. I installed it nonetheless and now the sensor isn’t picking up any wheel speed at all. Is this because the 2017 canyon sensors are specific for each side? How would this even make sense as its just a sensor with a connection that I was able to plug into the right side. Am I missing something like it needs to be programmed now?
