I can promise you 99.9% of people will never ever walk into that room and notice whatever imperfections you're worried about on your repair job, however a much, much larger percentage of people WOULD immediately have noticed the large gaping space. Your job looks great. That's a good gain by the numbers. Thank you for the advice🙂

It's funny because I point things out to home owners all the time. I've worked in trades and continue to from time to time and I always find the stories interesting. Most of the time people like talking to me about it because it is almost a stress reliever.

Another tip also, when you have a gap that big you should fill 3/4 of it with that clay filler they sell at hardware stores. They are super cheap. Then you should put wood filler over it. Doing this will give it better uniformity and also give it more stable foundation for the wood filler to mold to...
@WadaGoodIdea3 жыл бұрын
Great tip! I will use that in my future projects👍 Thank you!

I have so much respect for you! I’ve been in construction and the handyman business for about 40 years full and part time… and I must say that you did a fantastic job both in your technique and your verbal commentary to describe what you are doing and why! Bravo! No it’s not perfect, but it’s more than most people will try to do! Love and friendship to you! PS, I love your accent btw 😉

Hey O’ Danny Boy, question after I use a wood filler and sand it down then let it cure is it possible I can drill holes and place a hinge then attach it to a storm door? A chunk of wood came out of the bottom hinge area and the storm door creaks and is very annoying and doesn’t close at all.

It's really interesting to see the view from inside a house when it's snowing. I've never lived anywhere that it snows. 42 years and I've only seen it snow few times and never stick on the ground. So cool.

This is a lot better than some attempts I have seen. I can tell by the way you handle material that you are experienced. Bondo does have a smell for a brief period, but the beauty is that it is more amenable to tooling and sanding once dried. I think that would have led to a better result with less effort. I would usually put a sheet of something like thin, like Mylar on the counter surface to act as an adhesion barrier so the filler is not bonding to both surfaces. Things will move and eventually there will be a crack. Once the filler is cured the Mylar can be trimmed flush with a knife. Good job!

Very well done.... and you can’t even tell it’s imperfection up close... the only criticism I have is when you use painters tape and you use wood filler, caulking, paint, etc. you should score it with a knife first before you pull out that tape or it will peel off something you don’t want damaged.... this job you did tho is really well done. Bravo 👏
@WadaGoodIdea3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You are so right about the tape! Nothing happened in this project but my bathroom floor painting project got ruined a bit when I pulled the tape!! Thankfully it was behind the door not really visible, after that incident I scored the rest of the tape😂 lesson learned!!
