Once she has had a couple of sharpens the bogging will most likely disappear so long as the depth guides are left alone for a while. Teeth are generic and with a long bar a bit less bite is a good thing. When I first started ripping I couldn't buy anything apart from a standard cross cut chain where I live. Reprofiling a worn chain worked a charm. This saw has potential.

I have 2 of them and on for parts put a stihl bar on it sprocket nose. Youll see a big difference. And. You have to pump that oil pump by hand. They do cut well for milling

Other saws are like a crotch rocket. Rely on rpm, but no tq. This monster is a semi truck. Low rpm and takes a while to build speed. But this thing is a monster.

I own a tree business and have been in business for 10 years now. I have always used Stihl saws until 7 months ago when I started buying the blue ones. I have now purchased 5 Farmertech blue chainsaw. 660, 366, 388, 440, and a 072. The 660 was the first one I bought, it still runs great in fact I used it with a 52” bar on 7-19-19 and it cuts great with it. The same day I used the 072 with a 59” bar and it also cuts great. The 388 out of the box cut great but now it want start a long with the 444, it won’t start either and never has. The 366 ran a short time but now runs terrible. The reason I’m posting this is for two reasons. One being that my two big saws run and starts great, but all three of the small saws have not done well. The second reason is Uncle Cy could you please make a video showing how to tune the saws to run correctly and give any other suggestions about the problems that I’m having. Thanks, Steve Miller

They probably have cheap carburetors on them with cheap diaphragms inside. The larger saws probably have larger ones and maybe they have direct clones of the original carburetors. Running ethanol gas is likely part of your problem. Always run recreation/boating/ethanol free gas. That ethanol stuff sucks and ruins things mighty fast.

OUTSTANDING!! 100% convinced me to do a 1yr vid (in 3 months) on my awesome 'scheppach csp2540' ($145 shipped for super lightweight top-handle, has been my 'daily driver' and it's the only 2-stroke I own that I've never had to tinker w/ or adjust the carb) Seeing those 'noodles' from your setup w/ ripper/logger chain was insane I want that power lol!! I've gotta ask though, as I'll be looking for a saw like this within the year I hope: Why go with this instead-of those 'farmer-tec' kits that are Stihl/Husq clones? Those have such a huge draw for me because I know I'll always be able to easily source replacement parts, I'm the type that wants to keep&rebuild stuff even when it may not be the smartest/most-efficient path lol and hearing you say how you had clutch issues (however simple they were to repair) makes me just think "Thank the gods he didn't have an issue wherein he needed a simple part yet couldn't source it"!!! Just subscribed, thanks a ton for this I love these vids it was @Love2Boat92's video on the lil $100-150 scheppach(/jon cutter/un-labelled, there's at least 3-4 versions/brandings of the great lil 25cc 1-handed, ~7-8lbs saw) that made me pull the trigger and, FOR THE $$$, I'm still of the opinion that *2* of these units + a 10-pack of fresh chains is worlds-better than a 192/193 stihl and is both cheaperr and WAY more reliable(w/ 2 units and back-up chains for always having a razor-edge, I've tried staying with "sharpen every time you gas-up" but in-practice I've found it genuinely UPSETS clients and ppl who are paying me (contract climbing) if I'm trying to sharpen my saw on-site AT ALL ie I'll get "why don't you sharpen before coming here?' LOL yeah it WAS sharp 2hrs ago when I got here now it's not :P But yeah my 1977 poulan 25d made me realize just how long ago chainsaws were close-to-optimized and it makes sense that it's easy enough for people to pump-out FAR cheaper units than sttihl/husq are so vids like this one here are such a treat not just for that particular 105cc unit but the whole non-major-branded niche, much kudos to you Cy I hope you check-out that 25cc unit I've mentioned IF you've ever wanted a quick 1-handed saw (remove its front-bumper/dogs and put a 12" on it, it'll never let you down!) To be Honest the G660 from Holzfforma is a better milling saw than the YZ105. Higher RPM and therefore chain speed and develops nearly the same horse power. I got the YZ105 before I know about the G660. Now I have both and the comparison saws G660.

What is the gas mix ratio, 25:1 or 50:1 for all these cheap saws? They say 25:1. If these are truly clones, they would be 50:1. What are you all using?

I have been running 40to1 with no issues. But then again I tune it to factory settings and don't over rev it so the lighter oil mix does fine. The original 070 back in the early 80s ran 32to1 if I recall correctly.

I received my Cream Sickle Farmertec version of this saw in Aug 2017, mine sports a 36" .063 .404 Stihl roller tip bar & Farmertec .404 chain, the only issues I've had with mine is the fuel line cracked and leaked fuel, the clutch would slip due to the tension cone being improperly torqued , the high idle button fell apart and the air filter did not seal properly. It dose not leak oil or gas and starts every time after setting for a period of time in 8 or 9 pulls and 1 or 2 when hot. I bumped the max rpm's up to just over 9000. I to have around $450 in mine including bar and chain. Yes they do not cut fast but it takes a lot of guts to pull a .404 .063 full comp chain through 36 to 42 inches of wood cutting noodles. Other than weighing as much as 2 Christmas Turkeys they are pretty impressive.

I really depends on the quality of saw. A commercial grade saw can handle more constant use than a homeowner grade saw. Most of what is sold in big box stores is homeowner grade, and generally are not recommended for projects like milling. That said a saw that is used for milling that is running at high RPM for longer periods of time needs a cool down period after each cut. The cooldown should be to let the saw sit and idle for a minute or so. I am guilty of forgetting that sometimes 😔

He said it's a milling chain however the chips or the not chips because they are like spaghetti are a result of cutting the log length ways with the grain instead of what one would normally do cutting firewood which is to cut cross grain. The stringy spaghetti chips come out like that on any saw when cutting with the grain as one does with milling.

It must be the low RPM that makes it seem less impressive by video. Watching from this perspective feels like my 272 would keep up with that machine. But im sure if you made a cut next to it with a 72 it would better show the difference. From watching your milling videos with this saw again, my 72 with big bar seemed to rip a 40" oak slab at the same pace. Have you compared this against any 70cc range saws? Do you feel that this saw is worth its own?..

Actually I switched my milling saw to the G660 from Holzfforma. It is an MS660 clone higher RPM equal HP so mills faster. The 105 has become my back up. It will get the job done but due to the lower RPM it takes a bit longer. I will also add, to pull a 42 inch bar buried takes more than most 70cc and under saws have regardless of the RPMs.

I had to custom order one. If you look on-line for chainsaw chain makers you should be able to order one. I don't recall what company I got it from and that was 2 years ago, of course it was a rip chain but you can order cross cut as well. Just be sure to have the correct Pitch, gauge, and number of drive links when ordering.

I bought this exact 105cc saw with the 42" Batman blade and I've started it up and ran one tank of gas through it. It's amazing, I'm so excited lol. Anyways, would I be able to run a 30” bar on this saw? What type of bars will fit this powerhead? I'm going to be milling oak slabs with it very soon. I don't understand the oiler or the integrated chain break? I served in the USMC from 99-03 as an 0352 in weapons company 2/4 San Mateo California oohrah!! Dude its a large mount stihl bar. Any bar for an ms880 or 070/090 will fit. I run a 36" .404 bar and full comp chain on my 880 and 090 for regular use. I run full comp chains on them up to 42" bar, longer than that i will go semi skip or full skip

I like the full skip on my 41in bar and hyperskip on the 60in bar. It mills about the same speed yet does not bog the motor as much as a full comp chain.

These type of saws were made to run between 8000 and 9000 rpm. It has a governor that keep you from over reving it. It is possible to disable the gov and tune it faster but you risk blowing up the saw.

@@DIYwithUncleCy There ain't no governer on a 2 stroke engine (on a saw) there's no way to incorperate one, I have 30+ years of working on saws and small engines for a living, they are tuned with an audible or acustic tachometer for max high rpm( and it's stictlty the richness or leaness of the air fuel mix that determines this rpm), on the new carb compliant saws it's factory set and you can't change it, but on the China saws (for now ) you can still tweek them, now that yours has been well broke in it could be leaned out slightly more as long as you are using a high quality mix oil, from listening to that saw run it could stand to have the low mix needle turned in about 1 sixteenth to not quite 1 eighth of a turn and the high needle about the same, the idle would smooth out and increase in speed a tad and the high end would pick up a couple thousand useable rpm, even a saw in that size range should have no trouble turning 10,000 rpm all day long and still live a long happy life as long as good quality mix oil is used, If you really want to bring that saw to life see if you can get your hands on a velocity stack that would work on that saw with a UNI pod style air filter, I used to port and polish saws for loggers out here in Idaho years ago, and do the velocity stack trick, just a velocity stack would probably be a 15- 20% top end power increase on that size saw, the factory air filters and box around them choke the crap out of them where good cool air flow is concerned, anyhow have fun making saw dust.

That's odd since I can go buy a governor for this saw on Farmertech's web site. I have maxed out the RPM by adjusting it it starts cutting out at 9200 So I back it off from there. I am going to guess you have never worked on an 070 or an 090 because both have governors. I also have and use a digital Tach to tune my saws so I do know exactly where they are, I get the whole "It should run better" thing but I am not willing to Blow it up. It is not an actual stihl so I am not sure I trust over revving it. I have heard of people removing the rev limiter (gov.) and running them at higher RPMs and I have heard of people scoring pistons and breaking rods on over revved saws. Not willing to do that to mine.

These types of saws run very low RPM but very High toque. They are slow but will keep dragging the chain through no matter what. Impressive for what they are, however more modern saws far surpass their performance with smaller engine sizes creating higher torque at higher RPM.

#1 Check the flywheel and the key on the shaft to make sure the key isn't damaged or sheared off or the slot in the flywheel isn't damaged allowing the timing of the flywheel to change. #2 re-adjust your carb from the start setting the HI and Low jets usually one full turn out from the seated position.

Get a stihl 070 clutch from Oregon bar and chain it will solve the problems

Well it being a lower RPM engine all that means it should last longer .
