Listened to this in highschool in the mid 00's USA. There wasn't a soul for a thousand miles in any direction that knew about grime. When carpooling to a sports game we were playing in, I played Wiley - Rolex and after someone (a very angry verbal bully that tortured certain people since he was middle school and his parents got divorced) immediately said, "What the fuck was that? We didn't enjoy that at all just so you know" and another kid said, "I liked it a lot. Never heard something like this" lol people love or hate grime. I do despise people that are totally uninterested in music that isn't already popular. However, it's not their decision to be like that being a predisposition from birth; their brain/genetics. I think they like to connect the songs to parts of their lives and the people they're with at that time. Music to them is about relating to others and more about the lyrics. Other people listen to music because they're musically inclined and/or enjoy the sound like a non-narcotic drug. They are looking for music that jives with their emotions or excites their minds when they hear something new and beautiful.
