90s rappers versus todays rappers are different due to the listeners/fans wanting rappers to be more about what they rap, more being killers, gang members, quick to catch a body or have the persona like they’re about what they rap! Back in the day most listeners didn’t care if you lived what you rapped it was about was the music good or if you had a message in your raps whether it was love, streets, partying, struggle, consciousness, etc…nowadays everybody raps drill. Rappers rather be known for killing, robbing, drug dealer or drug using instead of being seen as a businessman or somebody who overcame the struggle and still is a real dude. Rap has changed for the worst and we’re seeing it more and more!!

I’m 29 and I feel you. When we were coming up, I never really thought Hip Hop would become what it has become now. I don’t even look at Trap rap the same since Drill came on the scene. Trap rap looks soft now - which is fucking crazy cuz that shit used to be so hard and gangsta back in the day. I’m curious who the next nigga is gonna be after Von because Von was just something completely different. The epitome of gangsta and he had the looks, charisma and personality to captivate people. I don’t know if another nigga in OUR generation is gonna be coming like that. Von was probably the last of that breed/era (Our era) considering he was born 1994.

Well tbh, most gangstas have a code(OG’s) and are different then “killas”,they’re two different things. Gangstas didn’t kill women and children, took calculated the risks and was strategic aka organized crime, and u never knew how many bodies they got unless they got caught. “Killas” are careless and rap about it, they’re bold and hit the street spraying no matter who gets caught in the crossfire. So todays killas aren’t gangsta at all. They actually are not smart and make impulsive poor decisions. Sad but this is the time we live in.
