I loved the Bangin on Wax albums when they dropped especially since i'm from LA but before those or just before those albums came out, True Blue hit the streets and went crazy. I grew up on Normandie and 36th Place but basically across the street was the Harlem 30 Crips and they dropped that True Blue album. Then they started takin shots at the Bangin on Wax folks and vice versa. All those records were soundtracks to my live growin up in LA during that time. Battlecat, Toddy Tee, Mixmaster Spade, Kday Radio, etc maaaaaaan I love my childhood in LA!

Another fantastic interview Sir😊🙌🏾🎧 DJ Battlecat is so Dope! One of my favourites (Up there with DRE, EA-Ski, and couple more..) Bangin on Wax was listened to by some of us who could get music from Cali to my home of Vancouver Canada. Then more Rap, Hip Hop artists had play here on radio-more mainstream. OG Sin Loc is one of my faves (good people and also family to Big Eric EAZY-E rip and Lil E😎my friend.) The history and depth of your interviews are truly respected and you can see people are comfortable with you, and open. Thank you again🙏🏽😊🇫🇮⚔️🇨🇦

Great interview. I never get tired of hearing the stories about growing up in the neighborhoods from the Black Gen X crowd. All the hoods were pretty much the same across the nation when the dope swept through in the 80's. Every time I hear the stories I see myself. Cleveland Ohio is where I was born and raised by the way, 70s baby raised in the 80s and 90s, wouldn't change it for the world (actually, wish I would've known about the stock market back then, would've been all the way up right now lol)

Great interview for sure! Being that DJ Battlecat represented a neighborhood/section even though, he wasn't with everything that comes, with representing a neighborhood/section. Was that common for young black males, during the late 70's into the 80's? Coming from a home during that time with family structure mom, dad, & love. If you went outside you were affiliated regardless?
