Thank you for this. I always got confused because the lights were the same on my mixer but the volume was different, so this cleared it up.

For those DJing on Pioneer controllers with Rekordbox: even with autogain, use your headphones and the CUE/MASTER knob to feel how much signal you're putting in. Autogain is nothing more than just bumping the gain so that the track doesn't hit past 0dB, but if most of the song is consisting of quiet instruments and there's just a mega whippy snare drum or poorly mastered vocals, the software won't account for that. In those instances, use your ears and adjust the mids and highs so that your track has balanced signal, then adjust the gain yourself. Most DJ programs are aware of that shortcoming and remember the last gain setting for each track if you adjusted it yourself.

Nice one! NO! loved that :D If that's a try to put some humor in your vids - spot on, do more ! :D Got a question though that i haven't found answer for yet: how to trust your ears, when you have your booth speaker next to you and in live situation ? Like, to do that by ear, would be best to do just on headset, with nothing playing in the background - easy. With 1 of the song playing very loud in the background -not as easy. that's a reason that for some events ( for which I'm tryin to hold the highest standards ) im only doing sets that I've got setlist and all tracks to select from 3 months prior, have song order, cue points etc 1 month prior and practice the leveling for the remaining time. Playing just few-teen gigs so bearable, I'd love to have such possibility in a live situation when I'm mixing on the spot though and I have no idea how to achieve that

How are you supposed to figure out volumes in a live situation, when the room is loud and you're trying to mix? And do cdjs auto-gain?
