Been down with hip hop since 1976. Saw the beginning of this culture before there were MCs and the DJ was the star. Grew up around Black Americans, West Indians and Puerto Ricans and Black Anericans set the trends and others follow. Sure ppl try to put their own twist on things but the foundation is from the FBAs.

As of May 29, 2024, a federal judge ruled that a copyright infringement lawsuit against nearly 2,000 reggaeton songs can move forward. The lawsuit was filed in April 2023 by Cleveland “Clevie” Browne and the estate of Wycliffe “Steely” Johnson, Jamaican dancehall producers who released the 1989 instrumental track “Fish Market”. The lawsuit claims that the song's drum pattern, known as the dembow riddim, was illegally sampled or copied by more than 100 artists, including Bad Bunny and Karol G, in nearly 2,000 songs. The dembow riddim is a boom-ch-boom-chick percussion style that is featured in many reggaeton songs
