I’m 28 now, I was 14/15 when these songs came out. Summer before freshman year was the best and worst summer of my life. My parents relationship was a dumpster fire. We were getting kicked out of our house and my dad had to find a cheap rental that would approve his application. My sisters and I had this old radio/cd player… one that is supposed to mounted up under the kitchen cabinets (I wonder if anyone else remembered when it was cool to have a radio in the kitchen) but we took it and put it in our room. Hot 100.5 was our radio station that played all the hits. We listened to music for hours and hours. We sang along, danced, talked… colored with gel pens. Played with our hair and makeup. Music really does heal the soul

I get overcome by emotion when I listen to this. These songs were what I listened to when I was 16 and still trying to figure out the kind of person I wanted to be. I'm 22 now. Over the past 6 years, I've faced tragedies, said goodbyes, welcomed new faces, accomplished goals. This song reminds me of all the memories that I've locked away and scarcely revisit.
