Brian I work as a nurse,the wrapper,the thing you sit on must be crisscrossed between the thighs for more security,to prevent the patient from falling easily.The lift is Good it prevents the carer from breaking their back when taking care of the patient for many years.

Actually the sling can be uncrossed for men due "safety reasons". But if they are on the lighter side it must be crossed to avoid falls. But good job to your primary carers they do an amazing job. The mobile hoist is such a game changer to your manual handling.

@@kajujukiruki2782 I learnt that you should never drive the patient from the sitting position with the sling uncrossed,it does not matter if male or female coz safety comes first,that is the first thing we are taught in skul if you r a nurse,and you should be two carers while operating the hoise,never alone incase something happen to the lift two pple can help the patient.Anyway like Brian said it was a reason he did it uncrossed.Safety of patient goes before anything else.

@@mamo.milian3111 Well, it's not drive it's called transfer. Yes am a Registerted Nurse/Midwife. So am not talking about what we learnt in school am reffering to practicality and assessment very crucial when it comes to application of knowledge esp in healthcare. Secondly, if you are well trained then you should know its not a one size fits all. Usually the client should be assessed [by appropriately qualified health proffessional] and the sling tailor made for their needs. Also remember manual handling is different across nations with client safety being the priority. If you work in care provision industry always read the manual handling procedure for every client to know if it's a two persons transfer, type of sling [eg full body], if its crossed or uncrossed and the colour combinations for the sling. It's not standard. Else you will end up with negligence cases.

Not necessary. There are different wrappers and especially the longer ones are pretty safe without being crisscrossed. I daily use them on patients

Can we get the hoist machine for dj Evolve so his friends don’t hurt their backs or cause him more injury too? The hoist is also a safer way to transfer from bed to chair, from chair to bed, to toilet and all transfers. Just a suggestion from me. I know it is easy for me to say especially when I don’t know the financial circumstances. Brian and DJ Evolve you are an inspiration to many. Keep moving guys, you got this. Keep your positive attitude and energy going ❤❤

Very interesting moving and handling techniques demonstrated on your video! As an Occupational Therapist (OT) currently practising in the UK, i really believe there is a needed gap for OT practise in Kenya particularly in education on safe way/s of moving and handling of individuals using a hoist + the correct way to measure and fit a sling. Moving and handling risk assessment + a robust care plan is very important. I enjoyed watching your video😊.
