Absolute brilliant set . But I think people are little confused. Most of these tunes are 91/92 but absolutely brilliant all the same 😃. I remember 93 being predominantly drum and bass . AWOL the Mecca of all clubs but massively drum and bass. But an absolutely banging mix all the same 🙂

Thanks James! All these tunes are 100% from 1993 mate, I was playing all these that year. It was definitely an interesting year for rave music, as the tracks really started to speed up in terms of BPM (compared to 1991/92) and you could definitely hear the early sounds of Drum & Bass. A lot also depended on where you went raving in 1993, some clubs would cater for more of the Jungle / D&B sound than the Hardcore. My local club was the Brunel Rooms in Swindon (Odyssey / Fruit Club events) so never made it to AWOL back then unfortunately, but heard it was wicked :)

Didnt even know that genre existed in 91 till i got a job selling windows and my team leader was a mad raver, piano house, Italian house etc..heard a few mixes and was hooked, I produce tech house now, cos I lost love for the pianos to be honest but I would love to keep them alive by using the accapella as vocal snippets in my tech tracks, you know where any of the accapella are?

93 is when the beats got a bit too choppy for men, i got into techno then I was into the 4/4 beats

93 was the pinnacle of hardcore. The uplifting hardcore of 93 was better produced than 92 and darkside breakbeats paved the way for Jungle. 94 four beat was cool but the end of proper hardcore and 94 was all about Jungle, by 95 it was bouncy techno and hardcore was finished for a lot of us.

why did you change your DJ name from Dark Fader to Faydz?

Around '94/95, most people I know were calling me 'Fades' as a nickname, so i changed my DJ name to that (I was playing more House music then anyway, so Dark Fader didn't really work with that style) I changed the spelling to 'Faydz' in 2000 :)

Most of the tunes were made at 155 - 160 BPM that year, I'm actually playing them a bit slower! It certainly sped up a bit after '92 :)
