POWER TALK | 10.12.24 | Kansas State rolled into Boulder on Saturday night and took Colorado's best shot, but it was DJ Giddens running for 182 yards on 25 carries that set a tone for the Wildcats. In the end, the defense was just good enough, and Avery Johnson connected with Jayce Brown for a 50-yard touchdown pass with 2:14 remaining to give the Cats a 31-28 victory.

My favorite moment of respect in that game was when one of our players, can’t remember who, was injured, and Coach was on the field and Coach Prime also came out and hugged Coach as they stood together over the injured KSU player. It was a tough game for both teams, but when you have sportsmanship such as what I witnessed, it makes the game that much more enjoyable.

It feels great to get the W in a game under "worst case scenario" circumstances (road game, coming off a bye week, high-altitude). DJ continues to prove himself week after week. It was also awesome to hold an opponent to negative rushing yards, largely thanks to Sanders' tendency to retreat 10+ yards behind the line of scrimmage.

Sanders is one of the most accurate college QB's I have ever seen. Every time he threw it, I held my breath because I knew that he probably was going to complete it. @stinger0772
@stinger0772 22 сағат бұрын
@@GoPowercat I think he means after K-State's interception, up by 10, knowing our secondary was hobbled and getting torched. We needed first downs and POINTS, not run clock with 12 minutes left! Two standard predictable runs up the middle and a pass short of the sticks was terrible play calling that should've blown the game. That drive should have put the game away but the OC chose to sit on it, punt and they go right back down and score. Can't win road games hoping the other team makes a mistake, you have to go take it, which K-State was forced to do only when the lead was blown with nothing left to lose. Avery's arm bailed out the OC in both road wins. These coaches bottle up the offense when they should be throttling it. They don't appear to have experience coaching with a talent advantage, clueless on how to utilize it for max impact. How does K-State dictate the entire game in the trenches, dominate the rushing game, time of possession, CU without their three best receivers and Heisman DB yet eek out a win on a last-minute drive if not doing so in spite of these poor coaching decisions? That should have been a 10-21-point win. Coaches should donate this month's paycheck to Avery for bailing them out.

@@stinger0772 I agree with all that. Hated the play calling right after the interception when we had a chance to put the game away. I was expecting some kind of fake to DJ and run with Avery the other way, or getting Dylan out in space, QB counter play, screen pass, anything other than run up the middle twice with your undersized RB who's fast as lightning. Avery having one designed QB run the whole game was also perplexing. Having 3 very good players in the backfield and NO OPTION PLAYS, whether its the triple option or speed option or something is the most perplexing thing. You force the Defense to spread thin and cover multiple spaces against DJ, Avery and Dylan as pitch man, all in the same play, you can also run option Pass and pass out of it. It at least needs to be in the play book so they can go to it from time to time and use plays to set up other plays.

Second, I’m not a fan of either team, but in watching the game, it was clear that Kansas State couldn’t stop the Buffs. In my opinion, the Buffs are the stronger team and should have won easily. Kansas State barely secured the win, and that was only because three of the Buffs' best players went down with injuries.
