Man being an MC is such an adrenaline rush!! So much pressure to be quick with your flow. I love being on the Mic and DJing because knowing the mixes and drops of my music crate, allows me to give the right energy at the right time. I've for sure been in gigs where i totally messed up the flow with jumping on the mic to soon and not being smooth with my words. But it still doesn't scare me away from MCing. If you are into MCing, i say get the practice in because you can tap into a totally different area in your DJ business where now you can market your voice. It just opens you up for so many opportunities. And in our business there are sooooooooo many different DJ's, so you have to figure out a way to stand out. And MCing is a very powerful way.

I typically let a close family member or friend of the host do the mcing, it just makes the entire crowd more happy to see someone talking who they know compared to some random guy. But in terms of party motivating, its always my job

when i first started wedding i would get the sweaty palms and the shakes when i talked on the mic so i did start hiring out my MC work but after a few years i was able to break the feeling and do my own MC work. Not only has it made me a better entertainers but its also allowed me to make more money instead of paying an MC. you can tell from gig logs i dont have an issue getting on the dance floor and joining the fun. check out gig logs 6 and 7 haha.

I'm a passive MC too! In Tucson AZ where I'm at people aren't used to a lot of mic work and have heard feedback that it gets annoying after a while. but it does depend on the crowd. I've DJed for crowds that expected me to be on the mic and the party rocked! It's a crowd reading thing. some like it some don't!

Songs request for Quince's and Sweet 16 always vary from City to City, and year to year. No matter how often you think as a DJ you're update, kids will always hit with songs that you don't have or never heard of. Always a challenge. Also, once they start requesting songs and come at you at a rapid pace that just kills your mixing flow.
@TheAssassin19786 жыл бұрын
DJ CeeLos especially now with streaming services, kids listen to very obscure artists. Also genres are becoming more saturated with sub genres, where as 10, 15 yrs ago you had a handful of artists who where churning out the hits

DJ and host at the same isn't easy, you always keep the flow moving. But i have only one tip for you. Use INFLECTION, you used too much the same words in every EVENT., and your modulation of intonation are the same. Once again you are very talented.. Berry

MC myself, but I don't act a fool. If the crowd is hype, I'll throw I some "jump jumps" and "hands up". I just started doing crowd control tracks with my middle schools and they love it. If it's a kids party, I bring my daughter to get on the floor with the kids. LOL

Depending upon the event an MC is a different thing. Keep in mind these are just my opions... For a wedding an MC is the person who helps the venue and coordinator makes sure all scheduled events of the day take place i.e. cake cutting, garter or intros... An MC or Hype Man gets out in the crowd or in front of the DJ and uses his body language and voice to get people going. However there are certain times it's not needed. A Party Man is a type of MC that teaches Line Dances and dances with guests along with doing the hype work... A Bar or Night Club MC stays near the booth however in visual sight of the parties and hypes up the crowd... Just my 2 cents... Great job on your vids

Some emcee rules. Write it down. Plan at home. Learn something about the client. Say the company's name and say it correctly. Don't say bride and groom - use their names. Get away from cliche like "you having a good time?". Do not make it about you. Speak clearly. Just do it! Don't be afraid! But Don't say too much. Say it twice if they are important announcements. Don't forget to make announcements if instructed to do so - like "last call". Always say "tip your bartenders" to keep your job. Introduce yourself. Great stuff Barr...

A DJ that does MC can make anywhere from $100-$450 extra. If that doesn’t motivate you to become an MC, then idk what will. And when you add a “Carnaval” Package, you have to be interactive with the crowd, only way it’ll make them comfortable with you as their DJ.

I MCee most of my gigs however it's always money maker to have someone to who knows how to do both. I do have a business partner that will not touch the mic. This becomes a mood setter on my part and requires for me to redirect and focus my attention on how to pronouns, drops, and presentation with what we are trying to create and build a momentum for the guests. Mcee-ing is defiantly additional work but extremely important!. I'm always working on it thou! Always something new to learn.

I think if your on the mic too much, people will start to tune you out or your making the party about yourself. I hate it when I'm at the club or a guest at a wedding and the DJ talks over the vocals or starts singing the song.

Ok first off I do both (dj/mc) now, but it can be distracting. One day would like to try hiring a sep. MC. Just to give a better show. I'm not sold on Canon. I would never use it, Maybe confetti but not smoke. Facade set-up is getting old, but still nicer then anything ive ever setup. Teen Playlists always smh, example: Pop, group dance, dirty song, dirtier song, then Disney. You can never tell what will work. One time I had a full list of dirty, dirty rap and requests at party were 80s pop that what they danced to. Thanks Barr see you in Vegas

@jayharrison96176 жыл бұрын
Don't tell me what to PLAY! I know what I'm Doin'! LOL! #RespectTheDJ I always feel like I have to educate clients about the differences between an MC and a Party Motivator. In my opinion an MC is just an announcer. Someone who informs a crowd. For example, introducing people and explaining what's about to happen next. A Party Motivator is an Entertainer that is an MC, Hype Man, Dancer, Dance Instructor, Game Show Host and a Comedian. Yes I said Comedian, clients will hand me a script of something "funny" they wrote and expect me to make it work. That's a lot of skills rolled into one performer. A lot of clients expect their DJ or MC to wear most of these hats and I think it's very unrealistic for one person to do all night long. I prefer to be the DJ/MC/Hype Man/Game Show Host/Comedian and bring a DJ Assistant that knows how to mix two tracks together and a Dancer.

All of our DJ's are trained both as true Master of Ceremonies as well as Interactive Emcee's (Party Motivators). Our policy is that if you can't DJ and grab the mic and rock a crowd at the same time, there's no room for you on the team. That way, we arn't stuck in the situation of sending out a DJ to a party that can't grab the mic and bring the party from 0 to 100 in seconds. If you give 200%, you can expect at least 100% back from your crowd.
