I'd say this was late 84 at the earliest, if he was this good in 83 then he would have had to have have been learning those techniques at least two years earlier to get that good and the equipment wouldnt have been up to it, either way he was a very, very fast learner and highly gifted to get that good to pull off Union Square in 1986. Also when Grandmaster Flash had his epic Adventures mix out in 81Jeff would have been much more advanced even though Flash was considered the best in the world that year, hard to believe, I dont know when Jeff started but 81? That Fonda Rae Touch Me track didnt come out until 1984 anyway so I'm not buying 1983.

That's why he won the New Music Senimar in 1985 over all NYC and international DJ's . Philadelphia had the best DJ's in the world and thiswas proven when DJ Ca$h Money won the DMC next year. DJ Jazzy Jeff was rocking parties across Philly and the tri-state since 1980 and DJ'ed before then.

In the early 80’s Philly. D.J.’s we’re all over scratching and mixing/blending records at block parties as well as house parties. Jazzy perfected the art of scratching and popularized the Transformer scratch.

The Fonda Rae Touch Me track was out in 1984 so I would say mid to late 84 the earliest he did this mix. Otherwise he would have been wiping the floor with Grandmaster Flash in 1981 as would have needed at least 2 years to get this good by 1983 yet in 81 GMF was considered the best scratch DJ in the world but that would have been childs play to Jeff even though I love what GMF did back then.

This is rare for sure... but with that DJ Chuck Chillout “Hip Hop on Wax” song at the end puts this mix smack in 1984 at the earliest. Any DJ’s dissing this should consider what their favorite DJ was doing in ‘84. Nothing close to this.
