This man talks so much sense, really inspires me to keep going in music production when i hear a D&B producer giving this kind of knowledge. Only two years in myself and still only see it as a hobby......no interest in being "famous" but obviously i'd like more people to be hearing my stuff and eventually get to the level of having tunes released on some of my favourite labels. Wicked masterclass guys, loving your videos lately. I'll be coming to PB at some point in the future, definitely.

true stories that is one of those epic 11 min drum n bass tunes that takes you on a journey i miss tunes like that in the drum n bass scene a lot of the songs are missing that soul and freedom to be different to many producers stick to the same form

Haha, bit weird commenting on a vid from 10 yes ago but only just seen it.. Super interesting hearing the background and insights on Krusts approach to making music. Since way back, his tunes have always just sounded different, like he's coming at drum n bass from a different, wider angle. True creatives like this will always stand out among the 1000s content to endlessly recycle the same beats and sounds. Hearing about his approach to creating music makes so much sense! Explains why even his old tunes still sound fresh and have that mad raw energy 20-30 years on. Thanks point blank for the vid and thanks a million Krust for music.

I concur! I innerstand. Perhaps more than most reading this could imagine. Over 20 years of record making VINYL...small business, however, business ALWAYS went into the right ear's hands. My own "authenticity" supported by future leaders of electronic music from 1st moment their souls felt my heart. The Prince Of Dance eLBee BaD... Krust laid alot out & so lovely he said it

Love the part that answers the question about how to get more feeling in the music one is making. I can say that the feeling is not immediately apparent. You have to believe in the project you are working on enough to see it through to mixdown and that is EXTREMELY difficult. There are so many aspects to "feeling" within a track, not limited to groove. That is only one ingredient. Honestly, most sense of feeling comes from ARRANGEMENT and effective transitions.

Nice talk. Krust is on point with so many facets of today's music production. Inspiring. On a technical note, what was the microphone guy doing to the sound all the time? Fading it out, switching to room mic, then back to close mic again. lol.

Why does he say it took him a lot of work to create "Warhead", when he clearly ripped off the whole build-up and arrangement from "Mad Professor" by Roni Size?

I remember Warhead when it came out, I fucking hated it, it was boring same wob wob bassline. I was angry about it lol, a few times dancing to it and I really got it, so well produced..sounds so polished thats why it holds up today. Roni size timestretch, first track I bought, that intros still a bitch to mix, but that synth sound on the break...Iwas like 'what da fuck makes that sort of noise'

Vinyl bit is bollocks though, kids are getting into it, it does sound better than cassettes , an mp3 ripped from vinyl always sounds wicked to my ears, it just tightens up that organic sound, maybe bc it rejects some freq ? Either way Mp3 is obv king but Vinyl is picking up pace, spesh with the hipsters. Thing about Vinyl is it is visual and tangerable , it is amasing that that little needle thing makes music from that big round slab thing. That excites a young mind.

REEEEESPECT, Krustie. This tween doing the interview...nodding al "yeah, yeah, I know what you mean" is unqualified to do this work with people over 30. He just doesn't know the history beyond some shit google search. At least approach the interview with humility since you dont actually know shit.
