Chris Stapleton: "I recorded this on the day a friend of mine passed away from pancreatic cancer. He was the same age as me; we played Little League together, stuff like that," Stapleton shared. "He was 38 years old." It's about good people that pass away before their time.

It’s about how good people.. “angels”… fall from grace to help us, even though we don’t always get to know what happens to them or understand why they sacrificed heaven to help us at all. It’s about not taking love for granted. I know. I sang it.

That's why I got into playing music at a young age because it was an escape and music is supposed to touch your heart. Literally a religious experience at times. And Chris is one of the very few artists that gives me that experience. I'm so glad that you guys love his music too and get that same experience. And my condolences to you both for your relatives that are no longer with us. Respect and prayers to you both. Have you heard his song" Daddy doesn't pray anymore" ? Interesting fact .... "We're not meant to know the reasons." On that same theme, you guys might like to listen to Leslie Jordan ft. Chris & Morgane Stapleton - "Farther Along." Leslie Jordan (actor, comedian) did 80 or more hilarious facebook posts during the pandemic to help keep his fellow "hunker-downer's" spirits up. Then he did an album of gospel duets with a bunch of country singers. As far as I know, the only video is with Chris & Morgane.

My interpretation of broken halos. Angels are sent, new and shiny halos... sent to us with our sins and pain and degradation and need. They take away our pain, our suffering... they heal us. They take on our sins and our suffering and their halos get tarnished and abused by doing so. They say Jesus died on the cross for our sins, I don't know if that is true, but if it is... it makes sense that he send angels to do our penance and bring us peace. If Jesus forgave all our sins and died for us... why not angels. I don't mean angels in the sense of winged persons, I mean angels who come into your life when you need them, some stay, some go. But in my case, no angel could leave with an unbroken halo... I am a sinner through and through, but I have also been and continue to be an angel with a broken halo.
