I’d argue that the 2013 Jay Cutler, Matt Forte, Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffrey and Martellus Bennett was a pretty solid offense, but yes, this one on paper could definitely be better.

@@danieljoyce7699 that’s just the easy thought to blame it on Cutler when in reality the offensive line was 10 times worse than it was under Justin Fields first year for all of Jay Cutler’s career and nobody was defending that man for having no O-line💀 these double as* standards

Well their best year together (the Trestman Era, mind you) they had two strong QBs in Cutler and McCown. Neither of them had enough time to shine fully, though.

Unless you were one of the FEW saying CJ was the best quarterback in the 2023 draft , stop bringing up his name. If you were praising Young before the draft , say WE were wrong. By the time Poles traded that pick ,all NFL talking heads were damn near unanimously eyeing Young.
@LuckyFlip23
@LuckyFlip23 28 күн бұрын
The media was still in love with Justin too so nobody thought that QB was a position of need for the Bears at that point. Charean is not considering how much of drama it would have caused if the Bears drafted a QB at #1 when Justin was just going into only his 2nd season as the true QB1 since during his rookie year, both Dalton and Fields were getting chunks of time on the field that season.
@ironfistalexander3246

Young was definitely most people's favorite but a good chunk liked CJ. I would say 60% Young, 35% CJ, 5% everyone else for who people had as QB1

So true. And also, I think it's way too soon to call Young any type of bust. They gave Fields over 35 starts and were still saying "he just needs more weapons, a better playcaller, a better O-line, etc...: Bryce Young was in a madhouse of a situation as a rookie. It really shouldn't count. And I'm a Bears fan.

The excitement of the players is making me even more excited myself as a Bears fan. As a broadcaster I try to keep a level head especially when it comes to the Bears, sometimes I try to even force myself to be more pessimistic to offset any overexcitement I might have as a fan. Players being excited doesn't help 😂. I can't think of many times in my life where Bears players seemed genuinely as excited about the offensive potential.

The Bears can't be judged on this trade by only comparing Caleb Williams to Bryce Young. The trade also needs to be judged on the Caleb Williams to C.J. Stroud comparison. Remember the Bears could have kept the pick and selected Stroud. Who, by the way, had an incredible rookie year. Just because the Panthers "may have" made the wrong pick, that doesn't necessarily make the Bears smarter to have traded that pick away. If Stroud continues on the trajectory of his rookie season, Williams will have to become a really good franchise QB for the Bears. Otherwise the trade becomes a mistake. If Williams becomes a stud, no one will care if they could have had Stroud.
@owtkvst
@owtkvst 28 күн бұрын
That logic is flawed tho because it wasn’t just a 1-1. In that Panthers trade, the Bears not only got Williams, they got DJ Moore, Tyrique Stevenson, Darnell Wright, and still a 2nd and 5th rounder in 2025 that could be good players. That’s 6 potential good to great players vs 1 for the Texans. Stroud would have to legit be top 5 and Caleb will have to be bottom 10. If Caleb is even top 15, that trade is 100% worth it.

The other thing to consider that hasn't been said by other people replying to this is that we QB wasn't an area of need since we still had Justin who was viewed positively by local & national media, coaches, staff, and Bears fans at the time. If we drafted Stroud, he definitely wouldn't have started right away, there would have been drama regarding the QB position (whether if Justin performed well or not), and we wouldn't have had as strong of a roster as we have now. Lastly, there is just no way a team that had just drafted their possible franchise QB two years prior would be drafting another QB at pick #1 unless they liked the idea of inviting chaos to the locker room and the fan base, lol!

Road the living hell out of a aging defense and never help them as well. Shyt GM back then brah. If Jay was in yr 1 with us with this GM and roster now he would have broke 4k long time ago... 🐻s traded for a Ferrari and left it in the snow. But that's the past and maybe! Hopefully!
