Don't hold your breath. He was a disaster for us. Throwing passes in the dirt behind the line of scrimmage consistently. Also very inaccurate. It's going to be fun beating him at your place this year. You're his third team so I don't think he's interested in being a team player.

I got news for you. This little highlight tape is not a good representation of his overall play. He is very inconsistent. He has all the talent but he hasn't come close to putting it all together.
@jedi7427 ай бұрын
@@lukeschultz6886 Much of that is the o-line. Im assuming that you think that the qb is the most important position on offense when the offensive line is a HUGE factor and is just as important as the qb. If you are Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, it doesn't matter if the o-line gives you only two seconds to throw. I know this because I am the starting quarterback of the worst offensive line in the state. My guys can't block and give me enough time to throw the fucking ball. I know im bitching a bit but as pocket passers, offensive line is extremely important to your sucess. Put this kid with Michigan's O-line last year and he will look like by far the best qb in the big ten and maybe the best in the country, including jayden daniels and caleb williams. (No disrespect to Drake Maye tho)
@lukeschultz68867 ай бұрын
@jedi742 part of being a next level qb is being able to read and understand what the defense is doing. No qb in the nfl has perfect protection every game. The elite ones are able to complete a pass with minimal time in the pocket. DJ does not handle disguises well and in the nfl this only gets more complex. Also his accuracy is an issue
@jedi7427 ай бұрын
@@lukeschultz6886 as a pocket passer myself, I was told to trust my o line so I’m kinda screwed. It’s NOT our style of play. You may be right about accuracy but you are honestly just a hater on the style of a pocket passer. He has great games, such as his final game against Wake Forest at Clemson, against Cal, and also against SJSU. He can be one hell of a runner because of his vision, and I would like to see you tackle him.

OSU fan here, and during most of the game, he hesitates, and short arms some easy throws. He just seems to overthink things, and also lacks a sense of urgency. The great ones hit another gear when the game is on the line, but DJ let us down whenever we needed a key drive. WSU, Arizona, Washington, each game we needed something big, and he didn't get it done, and then nonchalantly walked off the field with a "Dang it, we'll get em next time" look. The arm talent is incredible, and he did make some spectacular plays, to be sure, but I don't think he'll be consistent enough to be an NFL QB. Hope he does well at FSU though. Nice guy, and I am rooting for him.

He definitely has the talent and potential to be a great QB. Good coaching and a pro sytle system is obviously what he wants. He went to FSU to prove he has NFL QB potential. He has everything you want size wise. Being able to see over the oline and can take a hit. Sucks FSU had a great QB with Charlie Ward and he didn't get drafted. It was mostly his size. There weren't many black QBs either at the time in the NFL and the ones that were like Warren Moon were great. Now you see a lot more. Most can scramble well and be accurate. Charlie was that.

As a beaver fan I can honestly say DJ doesn't throw a good ball. He's big though...
@RedtailMediaPro8 ай бұрын
As a Beaver fan, I would say that’s not entirely accurate. He can and did regularly throw a very beautiful ball. Tight spiral, he can launch a mile. When the pressure was really on, and we had to score a touchdown, no matter what to even stay in the game (Arizona and WSU), he was just acting on instinct, distributing the ball around and it was beautiful. Unfortunately it was often too little too late. But he is also so inconsistent. He would regularly short arm, or overthrow on easy throws with no real pressure. He would hesitate to make the easy pass and fail to go through his progressions. I think the biggest thing that frustrated me about him was nothing seemed to phase him. Which you would normally think was a good thing, except he would miss several passes on a couple straight drives and would walk to the sidelines like, “no big deal.” I think he just likes the fire the great quarterbacks have to do his very best when his best is needed and perfect his craft. But that’s just my take on the situation.

I already see a problem. At first I thought the video was slowed down, but it’s not. His throwing mechanics could be a problem, because it looks very slow to me. It’s like his windup before releasing the ball isn’t tight. I was thinking maybe it’s just the long ball, but no, it’s short passes also. That could be a problem facing talented fast defenders in the ACC and SEC.
@SeminoleSpaceForce10 ай бұрын
You are correct. The Xs and Noles channel had a entire segment on it. They say it's the reason why he has so many balls off target when he's running, and routinely behind receivers, etc. They say there's not much to do about his throwing motion at this age with only a single off season. But he also will have better and larger receivers too throw to at FSU. Also, importantly for FSU he'll improve our rush game especially in 3rd or 4th and short, but the threat of the QB run also improves the run game on standard downs. That will change the defense and allow more schemed open passes and big down field plays. We can win another ACC championship with him and also get in the playoffs, but probably not win it all or we can get lucky and do that too.
