Partwork was a period in time before and after Tony left. With Tony unavailable for a lot of the videos in that time period, they did a partwork series with only part of the group doing all the parts.

Good observation about how they used Geoff's vocal range in the early days. A cappella arrangements of that era just didn't feature bass. If you listen to Tim Foust's interview with Peter Barber (I believe), he talked about how his featured use of bass was a differentiator for Home Free. His performance was an eye-opener both for the Sing Off and, I believe, for VoicePlay. In other news, I prefer "Eff and Jelly" and intend to use those names from now on. Happy holidays!

Partwork was really focused on the simplicity of true acapella voices...it has some of the prettiest arrangements IMO... Thank you Bookgirl for this lovely song choice! Merry Christmas to you! Oh, there are some stunning versions of this song. Love VoicePlay's, it's the best! I hope your holiday has been super bright! Was this your last Christmas as a non-husband?😊😅 How are your plans going? Oh, and if you've never heard Josh Groban's "O Holy Night," make sure you check it out, even just on your own! I also recommend listening to a choral version of "The Candlelight Carol." I know you didn't ask, but it's my favorite Christmas carol, and I love to tell people about it because it's not well known. Now...let's start practicing "Auld Lang Sang."😊🎉

You have to remember that at this time, Geoff still considered himself a Baritone (with bass notes), not a bass singer. If you watch the timeline of Voiceplay, you can see how he gets lower and lower throughout the years.

You also have to remember this is also when he was first learning to do subharmonics. He hadn't really used them in any songs.

Yes, this is characteristic of the Partwork series. In general, for the series, they wrote an arrangement that any professional a capella group should be able to sing, and then they assigned available VP members to the various parts; in most cases, at least one person is singing more than one part, as they had only four members at the time and were not using guest artists as much as usual, for whatever reason.

Very very nice, but I can't stop thinking how different this would be if they performed this today. Loved to see the journey of each individual and the group as a whole. Thanks for bringing us the full experience. Awesome!!!
