I think I have mentioned before but if I didn't Mitch and Kirstie are able to emulate each others' voices and often use that as a way to play with the sharing of parts or allow one to start something and the other to finish it. Actually I think its more Mitch emulating her but whatever they do it's grand! You may have noticed a little of Call and Response in this too, which is very African/African American church tradition and quite the departure from the homophony you pointed out that the traditional arrangement is all about. (Sorry if I repeat things you've said I tend to write my comments while the reaction is in process...) I had a director who used to say "silence is the canvas o which we paint our music" (but I think she was just telling us to shut up and pay attention...). This is one of my very favorite PTX Carols because of it's utterly refreshing take on a very very traditional song!
@SirHairless Жыл бұрын

@@SirHairless yeah there are some fans who take it way too far. They sometimes have slightly different arrangements for live to accommodate the only 4-5 voices. Or clap/body percussion tracks like I Saw Three Ships (in concert they get the audience involved in the body perc :) . Like there are some fans who are diehards that say there is NEVER any touch of auto-tune (dont get me wrong, they don't "need" it, and consistently prove it so in their live performances), but there's even an interview where Mitch says they aren't machines, every human makes mistakes, and the occasional pitch correction for a studio track is standard in the industry. Just like compression, reverb, multitracking, etc. We love PTX, but some folks need to calm down and touch some grass sometimes.
@kayecastleman6353 Жыл бұрын
@@N_F414 Such an adult comment! I know the individual talents in PTX are extraordinary, and their live performances are phenomenal, but the studio recording is simply a different animal. If PTX wants to remain competitive, tweaking those official videos is just part of the business. It takes nothing away from their skill, creativity, and riveting stage presence. I think it all went off track years ago when one or more of the members said they didn't record songs they couldn't perform live, and the fans just took that literally. Thanks to the technical expertise of reactors like Sir H and DJ Switch, Pentaholics are slowly coming around... but it's a bit like trying to turn the Titanic! 😉

It was in my more natural range, though, and also more interesting vocally, so I would often end up singing it by accident lol. Idk if i can ever go back to the classic version after this one. My favorite "Matt" Christmas song is You're a Mean One Mister Grinch. It's jazzy, cool and smooth af

I bet you didn't think you'd ever find yourself chair dancing to 'Oh Come All Ye Faithful'! This joyful rendition is so fitting to the sentiment of the carol. Have you listened to PTX 'The First Noel' yet?

I did not 😅 And sadly not yet, I don't want to ruin it as I will probably do a reaction to it (I plan on doing a reaction to every single bit of PTX I listen to)

I love the rhythm they have given this song. The arrangement is so tight and fun. It just makes you want to dance. The addition of the choir really gives you the feeling that the whole tribe, or village, is joining in to celebrate in unison. This is by far my favorite rendition of this song because it's so inclusive, bringing everyone together. PTX is so good at taking a song and giving it an updated more current sound and feeling but keeping it recognizable to it's original sound. They all look so young, how time flies. Thanks for the breakdown of the musical parts and explaining it in a way that is easy for anyone to understand. You have a very clear succinct speaking voice and don't use a lot of "um", or "I mean" while talking and explaining. You are very easy to understand and follow. Thanks again.

Thanks for your comment, I couldn't agree more! And funny you say that - one of the reasons I started this channel was to actually improve my speech as I wasn't happy with the way I spoke. I heard that the best way to do so was to film yourself and watch the playback 😮I literally never film myself do anything, so thought why not combine that with my love for music somehow and, thus, Sir Hairless was born. Anyway...thank you!!
