thanks for posting, you make it very clear about this item, one question for you. If I was running a scripted song, can I hook up some fixtures( smoke machine, flame thrower, laser for example) to run independently so I could lunch them when I wanted and it would not effect the scripting?

Sorry to sound stupid here as I’m just getting into controllers and such for my band’s lighting. Will this work on it’s on without programming with the computer software. I’m trying to find the easiest solution. We have about 16 par LED cans, 3 bar strips and 2 movers. Thanks for any responses in advance and don’t poke too much fun at me.

SS is a great concept but paying a monthly fee is where I don't agree... although is only 7 dlls It's I don't think is ok. as you say it's a big commitment. we all User should write to SS. I would rather pay one time fee of 500 or 600..

Great review mojaxx, I'm curious as to whether the control one is locked to using their software only? Or if you could use it as a generic midi device for something such as QLC+? (another dmx control program) and being able to use both universes with other programs as well

Only jut got round to testing this, but in theory yes, that will work. The unit looks dead when Soundswitch isn't active, but it is still sending midi data from the controls - and receiving it for LED feedback. I hooked it up to Traktor to test that.

So clearly midi devices can be used with Engine Lighting. SS have just withheld the midi functionality from Engine Lighting purely to drive the sales of the Control One. That's a lot of cash to drop just to replace hardware I already have, that can do most of what this does.

100% I am thinking to start doing independent reviews. I have had so much stuff that I am starting to feel that even reviewers like Mo are beginning to be more sales rep's than community partners. I AM grateful for them, but moments like this one where they all say "its good just get it, I know you can live without it but...." not just this product but pretty well everything on launch day. sorry for the rant. lol

Thoughts on this VS the Wolfmix W1 which I know you have a review coming? Especially for both in stand-alone?

They’re very different propositions really, as this will always need a computer (or Engine OS hardware) whereas the Wolfmix can be used entirely standalone. Hard to really explain more in a comment, but the Wolfmix review will be out within a couple of weeks anyway.

Guys, the dongle is sold out. It won't come back. I have the feeling that they try to push this Control ONE with that move. There is no other possibility to connect a Denon Player to DMX at the moment.

It definitely will come back. It’s such a great entry point into Soundswitch that they would be INSANE to drop it. Like everything else in 2021, all the stock is stuck on a container somewhere.

micro USB dongle hasn't been available since September, and Soundswitch told me they have no idea if they will ever have them again (I ordered 3 and waited 2 months to find that out)...convienient now that they released a $300 interface which is the only way to get a SoundSwitch lighting interface for Prime. So now I went from $90 investment to $900

There def seems to be a sales agenda here. It took them years to give us midi feedback. A lighting company that can't implement midi lighting feedback? Nope, seems they want us to use their midi controller or cripple the use of others.

They give you the option to buy lifetime subscription of the software for $200 i believe. Not cheap but could be worth it for some.
