It is crazy that a Council can ban drone flying and having read the anti-social behaviour Act 2014, I don’t think that the two pre-conditions were met in respect of drone flying. Having been in deep military intelligence, I wouldn't use a drone to collect footage for terrorism purposes, they're far too conspicuous. I'd much rather be a drunk looking vagrant or someone who acts strange and you wouldn't even see my camera, it would be hidden in a button and controlled from my pocket. The council have zero authority over the airspace. Only the CAA. The DJI drones do have a feature though called geofencing which can be set to not let the drone even take off in certain areas.

A PSPO is nothing to do with airspace, it means drone operators are unable to TOAL on any of the land that the PSPO covers; which is what has occurred here. So yes the council down own the airspace but you still can’t ignore a PSPO.

Yep, Brent has a PSPO and you have to get written consent by the land owner and/or the London Borough of Brent, whether you're licensed or not. But following the PSPO map of Brent, drones are listed as number 18. Borough wide is 1-9, which does not include drones (18) - Yes you can fly drones Wembley Park is 1-18 which includes drones - No you can't fly drones Parks and open spaces 1-6 and 19-31, drones not included (18) - Yes you can fly drones Cemeteries and graveyards 1-6 and 19-31, drones not included (18) - Yes you can fly drones So the only place the PSPO is for no flying of drones is Wembley Park. Regarding filming or taking pictures in Wembley Park, small personal phones and cameras are allowed. Cameras with interchangeable lenses or professional equipment, are not allowed though. The security guy made it seem like he can go around banning people with their iPhones taking pictures or filming, NO, he can't and that's according to Brent's own website.

@@mjbrown1603 The problem with Drone Assist is it gets its data from Altitude Angel, which in turn gets automated feeds like NOTAMS from the CAA etc. It won't pickup on stuff like bylaws, ATEX zone restrictions etc. The CAA are pretty open about them not having the responsibility, nor the data for these. The PSPO is pretty irrelevant really, the airspace has no restrictions - it's just a council using a PSPO which I'm 99% certain is to protect commercial aspects around events at Wembley.
