Whatsup people's. as you can see I go alittle more in depth with getting footage from your camera using this remote and adding telemetry data to your footage. I was quite impressed with how far the remote works with the action 3. This remote is a very simple functioning remote compared to it's competitors. if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hi Jonas , really helpful video with so many tips about the telemetry but most importantly for me was solving my problem with connecting the camera to the Mimo app , mine wouldn't connect. At 1.42 you made a major point for many people. Most people have their mobile set to automatically connect to their home WiFi . This is what was stopping my Mimo app connecting to the camera. Soon as I turned that auto connection OFF on my mobile , it worked straightaway ! Well not quite , for some reason I had to also go into the Wireless Connection tab in the camera settings and change the WiFi Frequency to 2.4GHz from 5GHz , then everything was fine ! This comment may help others so happy to post , like and subscribed man. Paul , Southampton , UK.

I also appreciate your subscription and you actually watching the whole video to catch that part that you actually needed an answer to. Hopefully you're out enjoying the heck out of that camera and staying active out here!

To me it's just a pain in the arse you have to use the Mimo app on your phone. DJI release a desktop video editing program like normal people. A phone is for making phone calls NOT video editing/adding shit.

Hi bro, thanks for detailed video. I want to edit my D-Log M via a PC software like Da Vinci Resolve. I don't want to use DJI Mimo app for telemetry. Isn't there a way to add telemetry after edited on PC ??

Hello, thanks for this info it was very helpful. Please let us know if they do an update to allow us to edit these videos via PC or ANY WAY faster than using the smartphone. I am actually also wondering what will happend if I colour grade AFTER I add these UI telemetry effects.

Thanks a lot a lot. So far other then using full on video editing programs, when it comes to PC, you can use the mimo app on your PC. You have to download an "Android emulator" program onto your PC (I do not know which Android emulator is BEST but it's a simple program that allows you to download Android apps to your PC and then use them on your PC). After you setup the emulator, you can go to Dji's website and download their Mimo App to your PC and the emulator will run the app for you to edit that way. Otherwise, you'd have to just at least download the files via Mimo app, add the telementry data (if that's what you really want) and then finish editing your video on whatever standalone editing app you fancy using. If you record your video in 10-bit, you should be able to color grade after adding the telementry data to your video.

Thanks for this video. I was thinking that with remote controller GPS data is automatically added to video as a metadata. With my Galaxy XCover Pro there is no way to connect camera to DJI app (was using my daughter IPhone to register). I was about to spend money for remote controller to get GPS data but I wouldn't be able to connect camera to my XCover. You saved my money, thnx.

😂😂😂 my man said fuck the telementry data 😂😂😂. I hear you my guy. I just recorded a Motovlog yesterday with the Action 4 and I was thinking in how bad DJI dropped the ball with this remote. In Pure sunlight I can't see the contents on the display at all....not being able to turn the camera and remote off and on with just the remote sucks. The remote is laggy at times where I have to press the buttons on the remote a second time before it does what I asked of it. Just a crappy remote.

Hello Jones, Thank you very much for the video, it was actually the first where I found this information about the overlays, do you also use an app for Win11?
@Jonasegway
@Jonasegway 5 ай бұрын
You are very welcome and no, DJI does not have an editing program for windows. Most people editing DJI camera footage use Davinci resolve for PC. It is a very powerful app that seems to have a very good free version of you want to just test it out first. Me personally I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Pro and use the Kinemaster App to edit me videos. That is one thing you will have to play around with to see which is easiest for you to learn with but for PC, I would say give Davinci Resolve a look

Problem I came across is doing for example range test with overlay. Video cuts in smaller clips and data cant be added to merged clips. It can only be added to individual clips and distance always starts from zero.
@Jonasegway
@Jonasegway Ай бұрын
Yes that does suck. For what I am thinking you are trying to do with telementry data, the AcePro or the insta360 X4 using a Garmin bike computer or GPS watch to record your data. This method is the only method Ive found that will give you a continuous odometer whether you stop recording or not. As long as the Garmin device is recording your activity, it will record a continuous odometer as well as your speed and such.

You know this is crazy. You and another gentleman have bought this to my attention @ having issues with using DJI action camera recorded files with Davinci. I had no idea DJI files were such a pain to deal with when it comes to editing on PC. I don't know if you've seen this forum but maybe it has your answer? forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=284185&mobile=2 What I normally do is I pull the videos from the camera to the mimo app via my Samsung tablet, add telementry data (if I do) and then since the files are already saved on my tablet I just go into my 'Kinemaster' editing app and edit my footage from there. I have no idea what the workflow on PC is like as I don't use my PC to edit my videos.

Really good video! You didn´t mention it, but if you don´t turn the camera off, but just let it go to sleep, then the remote will wake up the camera and start recording.

The remote will turn your camera on and off! Power them both on, after they connect turn your camera off. The remote will show sleep mode. Hit record on the remote the camera will turn on. When you hit stop on the remote the camera will shut off again. 👍. Just thought I’d let you know since you said it won’t turn the camera on.

Not sure whats going on with my remote but I film duck hunts and the camera isnt more than 20 feet from remote and shows connected but it keeps getting disconnected and sometimes wont reconnect, I also wear a DJI action 3 on my head which I turn on and off as needed and I'm not sure if thats messing up the communication between the 4 and remote but its very frustrating! I believe I'm going to just send back the 3 and run a 4 on my head also and see if that helps before I send it to DJI. Your thoughts? Could the 3 be messing up the 4 to remote and if I get another 4 is that going to interfere you think?

Give me a little bit. I did a remote range test with all of the action cams and their remotes. I know insta360's remote's range sucked but I don't remember Dji's range. *Side note* ever so often my action 3 and Gopro's will just turn on randomly while sitting in my living room working my tv/DVD/receiver remotes.

@Jonasegway

And this is something I've noticed with insta360's Ace pro footage as well. It only exports in 1080p once you add telemetry data. It's like...the definition of the telemetry data Is what ends up being the definition of your footage no matter what resolution you record at (unless you record at 720p. You know which camera doesn't do this when you add telemetry data? GoPro...

This is probably related to Chinese law restricting public use of telemetry data. GPS is available, but you need to have a special license. Telemetry data is considered a matter of national security.

Man that really means a lot! I truly appreciate the kind words! And you a very much welcome. I sure hope you get some goos videos. P.S. this DJI remote really does take a while to grab GPS reception in comparison to other brands so just make sure you turn it on and take it outside well before you start recording to give it time to get satellite reception. I just shot a GPS remote accuracy video that I'll be putting together soon in case your interested. But definitely put this remote outside to get reception as you get your gear onto ride or as you prep for recording.

@Jonasegway There us a learning curve here and I'm still learning it all. I've watched your vid 2-3 times to make sure I understand it all. This operating platform is far better than the GP12 that I had used in the past. However, I do have a question for you. How to make the x-treme batt last a bit longer? I only get 80-90mins of recording time or that may be par for the course. I'm looking forward to your new vid bro!

@olmanzomby7718 - turn off your front display - set your screen brightness to the lowest level where you could still see what's on your screen comfortably - use the lowest video stabilization you need (I just use rock steady for moto/auto/scooter vlogging and it does just great) - use the lowest resolution possible. As far as resolution goes, if I am motovlogging, the longer the video, the lower the resolution I would record in (but I wouldn't record lower then 1080p30fps which the Action 4 wouldn't record any lower then that anyway). If the lighting situation is pretty low, I'll record 2.7k24fps. When you record in lower resolutions, your battery life increases significantly. *Also....go into your settings general>screen off when rec>3s *General>LED>press to turn off Practically, that's pretty much it when it comes to facilitate the battery lasting the longest. I couldn't believe how much more of the battery the Action 4 use over the Action 3, but it is still good. This is also a camera I usually recommend having at least 2 batteries for in total in order to comfortably record with all day. MORE of you will record all day in 4k.

@olmanzomby7718 thanks alot and you are welcome. Most people watch KZbin on their handy devices and at 380-420p resolution. So don't get too caught up on resolution when recording. I usually uoad at 1080p because of this unless I am trying to produce a high quality output video which almost never happens. Feel free to ask any questions If you have any. I keep all of my cameras with me 90% of the the time and I use them ALOT (just don't upload what I record). So I have a lot of experience with these things. Cheers!
