This thing is insane! Really intelligent but sooner or later, somebody will share a fail with us, sad to say but hopefully it will teach us something about machines made by the hands of man. We're not perfect so we cannot expect them to be. Thanks for sharing.

Can you test it vs Air 3 in activetrack? Does lidar give any advantages in tracking?

The lidar gives it night vision (basically) because the other sensors are tiny cameras feeding a tiny ai

If I was to compare the tracking in a low light situation then the Air 3 might crash. The main advantage of the Air 3S is the low light obstacle avoidance.

If you are still in middle of woods and set home point. Then you go active track walking all round many many trees. If you press RTH does it fly back the path you took to go all way back to home point or does it change home point where you are with controller ?

If the home point is updated through the settings then it will return to the new location, otherwise, it will return to the point of take off by default.

In 4k the image quality is surprisingly good still in such low light. A bit of noise reduction and this would be usable for a professional shoot!

The DJI Mic 2 does a great job of isolating my voice. We very rarely have to do anything in post production.

I would not say that it is very low light on your test. Most of my videos are shot at dusk, and I only start getting the low light warnings on my DJI Mavic 3 Pro and it gets really dark.

I was getting warnings in this video. I think that this is a realistic situation. You can’t fly at night so dusk is ideal for people flying after capturing a sunset ☀️

Hey Dan! Looks like the Air 3S was trying to begin some of the Auto moves, and discontinued each time due to " Strong Environmental interference" - tech term for trees, lol! DJI tweaked Auto Active Track since they added it to the Air 3 (during switch to Active Track 360) Air 3 will do Auto only with people, but the 3S allows boats, vehicles etc. Cant wait to test all this. Mine has been out for delivery 2 days, they keep taking it back to distribution point when their day ends and not making it to me! arrggghhh! Thanks for the test!

Nice test, but it never got dark enough for the test to be lidar only. I'm waiting for mine to arrive in the mail to New Zealand but currently stuck in customs prison in Melbourne.

Dan, look for Peter Lindgren's Air 3S video. He flys sideways full clip through trees very similar but perhaps a bit more dense and quite dark at some points. At once enthralling and horrifying! You cannot look away!

This situation is realistic for most people. You can’t legally fly at night so dusk is great for people trying to fly after capturing the sunset ☀️

dont want to burst this but i did the same with a mavic 2 in much more evil trees and it was darker, let it get lots darker then test it

It was at dusk which is a realistic time for people capturing sunsets and also a legal time to fly back. You are not allowed to fly at night legally.
