Why would you not want to dive with this drone? Someone explain pls
@JohnCuppi3 ай бұрын
@@eliaskoliphotography Yaw washout/spin out can occur during a dive making it difficult to catch, could lead to a crash if it happens at the wrong time during the dive. It a characteristic of ducted quads or “whoops” like this and not unique to the Avata 2. It can happen due to flying in its own dirty air and aerodynamics with the ducting. Some are worse than others about this and any wind conditions will have a huge impact as well. Hope that explains it. I got lucky with these short quick dives but I was also trying to correct for it since I knew what to look for and felt it yawing… even then, wash out with dives on this quad is inevitable no matter who is flying it.
@eliaskoliphotography3 ай бұрын
@@JohnCuppi That explains it, thanks. What if I were to fly it really high and then do a dive with more time and space to catch would I be ok or would I just lose control in the dirty air?

Great tutorial on how to set-up your Avata 2 for full manual mode. I'm glad you a chance to fly the Avata 2 in manual mode using the new FPV controller 3. And you did great for your first time, at least as long as you stayed away from those trees, LOL. I love that FPV course you set up there, nice for testing out new FPV drones. Great video, and thanks for sharing John.

@@GeorgeKopp It seriously does feel harder to pull some of these moves off with the Avata 2 compared to the Avata 1, actually. Throttle is touchy as well. It's capable but really needs a lot more gas to get through any of it. Must be partly less thrust from the 3-blade prop on t he 2 vs the 5-blade on the 1.

When I go to launch my avata 2 it won’t go into normal. But the motors won’t start unless I’m in manual.
@willcountydrone20225 ай бұрын
When you adjust the screws does it change the normal and sport control or feel, like out of the box?
@JohnCuppi5 ай бұрын
Yes, it's going to change the feel for those modes as well, but you will still not be able to flip the drone upside down in those modes. They retain their safety mechanisms. Only now, you do need to be slightly more mindful of the fact that you cannot just let go of the throttle stick in a panic and expect it to center itself. I actually everyone comfortable on sticks should just use it this way because it's much more relaxing and makes sense to not have a throttle that is constantly flighting you on an FPV drone like this.

No you cannot limit the speed.

i'm surprised you did so well haha! pretty sure it would feel ALOT better if you turned up the pitch and roll max rates as the default 450 is horrible from what i've seen/heard, would love to see a take 2 with adjustments made to the max rates ! great vid btw i'll drop you a like and have subbed, cheers
@JohnCuppi2 ай бұрын
@@EyeintheSky-u1y hey thanks I appreciate it! Yeah the rates weren’t my favorite, but I’ve actually flown the Avata 2 a few more times since this video after changing them… and can confirm that I just feel that this drone feels worse to fly in manual mode compared to the Avata 1. Everything feels harder to pull off with Avata 2… what I’d like to do is try changing the props out on it. Avata 1 had 5-blades props where the 2 has only triblade and they ditched the pusher style. Avata 2 sounds a lot better because of this, but I think it took a serious hit in performance. However this drone never was, and never will be marketed as an acro beast. It’s for doing cine-stuff. But it’s always fun to test beyond the limits which is why I do these videos. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Keep in mind all rates do is change the response based on stick deflection. Higher rates move the quad more rapidly in the desired direction with less deflection, and lower is the exact reverse. It cannot change some of the fundamental limitations of this quad which affects me more than anything.

Cool to see you around man! Yeah, these drones are not designed with this in mind, but it's fun to test the limits. There's something about manual mode on this drone that feels harder to fly for me than the Avata 1. I can't put my finger on it... it shouldn't have been so hard to get that gate power loop low to the ground. Maybe I just need to spend more time with it.

Sorry for not doing that - I would check out Joshua bardwell’s freestyle tutorial series if you’re looking for content like that. Trying to replicate stick movements from a fast paced freestyle video is actually very difficult anyway. He goes through how to do multiple different types of moves in much more depth and longer detail than I ever could in an 8 min video just demoing the capability of the Avata 2.

@@MoeDefinitely901 My favorite prebuilt cinewhoop at the moment is the GepRC Cinebot30. Love how that quad flies, and I just added a GPS to mine. Avata 1 or 2 is going to be a great starting point though for 99% of people who have never touched any fpv quads and are just looking to get their feet wet. It's also entirely capable for cinematic shots without ever having to go full manual.
