I kept yelling pull the trigger at my phone, but the drone still didn’t move. Oh well I think you’ll get the hang of it soon enough. That drone is so much fun. I have to wear a head covering too, so what I wear is like almost a skullcap or a very thin stocking hat works good.

My Avata was spinning like a top the first time I took off as well, I was probably doing the same thing you were with the wrist. But once I got the goggles on my head it all made sense to me to not twist, but to turn my wrist. And I had practin in Florida with Mike Wright's Avata. Sorry you forgot your extra batteries, because it was my second battery that I got first real flight in. Great video, and thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing your first flight Marcus so glad you got all the controls figured out. The more you fly with it the more intuitive that controller becomes. Myself. Usually, if I turn my hat backwards, I can get the battery to fit just above the rim. Or sometimes I wear a bandanna. Again, thanks for sharing. Looking forward to more.

A cloth handkerchief with knots tied on the four corners then put the goggles on. Sunburn is terrible when the nerves come back itchy. I had no idea what to do when I first started with an ordinary quadcopter. It's all been a learning curve. I enjoy quadcopter for the flying camera aspect. Kuddos to you for giving it a go! I've been considering the Avata, if not the Intergra goggles only to fly my Mavic 3, but I'm not sure I have the patience let alone skillset. It's also that "situational awareness" thing that bothers me too. Often times I just like taking my hands off the sticks to look around. As I don't normally rush right into something new without doing my research and assuring myself that I'll remain committed to master it, I'm perfectly content with watching your upcoming Avata adventures for the time being. Just to let you know, my first flight was the same spinning around. It took me the second battery to realize that all I needed to do was make sure my hand was straight and to hit that trigger and just make sure I kept that center circle where I wanted the drone to go. I also do not like the lack of situational awareness, however, I just make sure my surroundings are OK prior to starting. Soon you will be zipping through things like a pro; or a really good beginner. Thank you for sharing!

Very nice Marcus. I did the same thing you did with the MC2 but Rod of HotRod in Daytona told me right away to tilt and not turn. I was having a blast once it all clicked for me. I did not fly in Sport mode but getting the hang of it and felt like a little kid. I don't own one, and can't buy one now so maybe one day I can fly again. Thanks for sharing

Trigger = gas pedal, Tilt up goes up, tilt down goes down. Tilt right = turn right, tilt left = turn left. No twist option.

Hey Marcus welcome to the avata club . Delighted to see you this video and you with it. Glad you got it all sorted in the end. Trigger in to go forward and you can reverse it to. I’ve gone on and started it in manual mode last few day. You can use your old fpv controller to Marcus. The other fpv drone your wife got you. Just keep an eye out for the battery 🔋 level I usually bring the drone home at 35 % just incase I’m nearly trees etc . Happen on time I was flying through a tree 🌲 didn’t keep an eye 👁️ out . Went into return to home . Hit the branch above it fell 30 ft … into grass few few makes but everything fine. Got the joke strap for Ken original dodo . Brilliant idea

Yes, a rough start, but it's still a start and I doubt I could do any better. What would be great after you get it fairly dialed in is a tutorial on the motion controller and the goggles. Not what you did wrong but what is the right way to do make it work as designed. I would think someone would have done that by now but I guess not. Hey Marcus glad you are figuring all this out before I get one, I bet flying with the other fpv remote will be 100% better for you. I have one request, please try to fly and figure out using the googles with the Mini 3 Pro now that you are able to use them with it. You're brave, Marcus! I don't know that I could have recorded by first attempt at using the Goggles/Motion 2 controller! I'll soon be in the same boat, though. I ordered the Integra Goggles & M2 controller package to use with my Mini 3 Pro. I just have no interest in owning the Avata, but I want to try FPV, as I have never flown that style before. Post some more beginner videos....I need some "trainer videos" to learn what not to do!!

Hi Marcus, thank you for sharing your video of your first flight with the DJI Avata. IMO it was your finest review of a drone ever. I saw that the noise of the Avata drove those people behind you out of the park. As I suspected, the Avata will create the greatest number of Karens in the shortest time possible. The Avata and people just don't mix well.

When is the test with the Mini 3 Pro and the Integra? I just ordered this Avata Explorer Combo too (arrives tomorrow here in Nampa!), just so I could use goggles with my mini 3 Pro! Here's hoping they make using the RC controller standard practice (and not needing the hack) with the goggles. Also, you had the *same* impression I did of the Motion controller. That you twist it (like the old MS Sidewinder joystick). But NO!! You TILT it (side to side) to turn. If you watch, when you are "twisting" it left, you're slightly tilting it forward, which makes it turn right...LoL. And the trigger is used for forward/back (once you are moving forward, then tilting it forward/back will climb/descend). LoL. Maybe us old FPV plane and normal stick controller guys all think alike...it is "intuitive" to folks that aren't normal RC plane fliers, I guess? Before you send it back, get the FPV Remote Controller 2 and try flying it like you are used to flying your other cinematic drones. Or, at least try some FPV sims. The flight is COMPLETELY different! Sorry, and I'm adding comments as I watch. Just saw you figured out the tilt. To have it go up/down faster with the thumb joy, you can go into the controls settings and bump up the gain/speed. They have it set INSANELY low by default. Then it will slide left/right and go up/down faster. Oh...and the person mock dodging and kung-fu kicking when you take off is cracking me up. I guess all the reviews talking about how LOUD these are for those of us use to the "discretionary" sound of the mini 3 pro are right!!!

Are you able to fly the Avata (or mini 3 pro) with the integra goggles and the regular dji rc or the rc-n1 controller? I heard when the goggles are attached, only the MC2 will be able to be used.

That's what I heard too. My understanding is that you can only fly the Mini 3 Pro or the Mavic 3 with the goggles while using the MC2.

Wow…. That could have been my exact video up to the 6 min mark so far. I’m mean exactly identical. I was really bumming out over what was going on. I will now continue with the video and hopefully you figure something out so that I can learn. Now at the 8 minute mark and I’m thinking you stole my identity.. we were going through the same thing. Ok then… yes I was turning my wrist the same as you were. You definitely should squeeze the trigger to get it moving..😜. Did you completely figure it out? Did you have to do any firmware updates or was it you totally?

Candidly, why do I want to see a first flight where a basic misunderstanding adds minutes to the video? I was rooting for you but 'cause I'm an older dude too, who just started with the Avata/Integra, but a bit more trim was called for. That said, I admire your efforts and applaud you.
