Here in China the DJI Flip release date is January 14th. DJI just started rolling our invitations to attend any DJI store to see it and purchase it on this date.

Hi Vic! For me, that Flip might be very cool, as it might combine the great options of the HoverAir X1 Pro/ProMax with the awesome flight feeling you get from DJI Drones! But it all depends on DJI offering us the rumored DJ-Track Beacon! This little device is a must, to get back your drone, when used without controller, in case it looses tracking! In your area, you are not familiar with Skiing/Skitouring - but imagine the drone following you on a steep dh ski run, and loosing you, hovering high up in the air, 100m behind you somewhere… Climb up to gain phone App connection?! No way!!!! Skiing DH with the controller? No way!!! Calling the drone home to my current position with the Beacon?! Perfect!!!! That’s why I love the ProMax, although the manual flight is horrible with the controller… So DJI - give us the best of both world please!!!

Hey Vic. Happy New Gear!Don't forget "Simplicity" - for me, a guy that has a half dozen DJI Drones at any given moment, there is something appealing about a pocketable little aircraft that you can power on, set to "follow" and just turn around and walk, ride your bike etc. As they further develop AI interfaces, the recognition abilities things will further upscale. We are living in a photo gear renaisance, wouldn't you agree?

I just dont understand the real difference from the Neo. A little better camera and a more vulnerable gimbal.

I would say a much better camera, much longer battery life, foldable props and apparently some sort of obstacle avoidance

@@VICVideopIC : Why not call for an Avata Mini then? They are all (basics) a flying indoor camera. Without getting into any details.. But honestly.. the Flip has to be the ugliest thing coming out from DJI... EVER!

I don't see it very portable, and not sturdy like the Neo.

Well hopefully less crashes with the sensors. And unless you have unlimited money, then intentionally flying the drone into a solid obstacle at 30kph, most people will not be doing that, but the lidar will help a lot especially as seen in the Air 3s navigating very tight areas and a much improved return to home.

I agree, the LIDAR should help, also the prop guard are apparently in carbon fibe, but we have to wait and see
