I have to say I've been building and fly drones for a very very long time. This is the best ever for beginners o watch even some that have been flying it a short while. Answers a ton of questions. DJI should use it.

Cybersecurity specialist here. I just wanted to put in my observational analysis in terms of the DJI ban and how/why it would fit in with your maiden flight. I believe the key is upon activation and installation of the app on your phone. This is the perfect opportunity for DJI to gain access to your drone content en-masse. Now I do not work with the US Government, but I assume they found that activation and storing video and photo content in their app would easily be used by Chinese surveillance. Without your phone, the drone cannot connect back to their servers, and you essentially can only record sessions on a Micro SD. This is ideal. You can choose what to do with the data, not DJI. I wish this could be better explained in Congress if it comes down to an all out ban of DJI.

My combo kit is on the way. This seemed super comprehensive, thanks. I'm new to fpv flying but I am experienced with VR headsets. So just one thing, IPD is the distance between your pupils, nothing to do with how long sighted you happen to be. Excellent feature though. After flying manual quadcopters, the return to home button sold me on this fpv option. I'm totally getting the insurance.

Very well done video, only one correction. On the IPD inter pupillary distance slider. It won’t correct your focus like glasses(corrective) lenses will. It does give you single image adjustment so it eliminates the double image if there were no IPD. It’s like having a VR headset adjustment for your if comparable. Ordered the bracers and blade guarded so I don’t trash my props on bushes or walls. Would be cool to see any video on aftermarket accessories allowed by Dji. Again great video and thanks for your hard work.

I want to note something: it is important to connect the short part of the goggles cable to goggles and the long part to the phone, it goes eather way so it looks like it is not important but it is, goggles will not be abble to connect with the phone. There is nothing written about this in drone documents...........so I lost two hours because of this problem

It's worth mentioning for those who are interested in this product that the DJI FPV Flight Simulator only works on Apple OS devices. I was kind of disappointed when I purchased my product and found that I could not practice with my Android device. Also, not trying to be critical, but getting out of the habit of uptalking will help your fantastic videos appeal to more viewers. Words like "button" should be enunciated instead of pronounced like "baa-in."

Just a thought. Always safer to turn on the controller before the aircraft. Older RC aircraft had potential issues with fly away without the controller on. DJI suggests this order too because aircraft could think it lost the controller and issue a RTH. Then when turning off, first turn off the aircraft then the controller. Great video about the FPV drone!

@@brettgaramella Understood but if anyone transitions to RC helicopters, DIY drones, RC planes, etc. this is a best practice habit. There are other good practices such as charging LiPo batteries in a LiPo fireproof sack or outside. Even if one person has not experienced a problem doesn’t mean no one else will. Also, it is recommended by DJI.

Dont forget to buy the prop guards and the arm bracers. GET the prop guards!!! This thing is VERY fragile. It wont survive a crash in normal mode. If you wanna go fast (yes) then dont ever hit ANYTHING. Even a tree leaf at speed is enough to bend the props. Then its a death wobble into a tree or splatter parts all over the ground. Taking the camera off is cool and all BUT Ive crashed once. The camera was OK but 2 arms were broken and the chassis was cracked. The replacement drone was flown sideways into a tree by my son. Without the propeller guards on. AND of course it barfed out the memory card too. Now we are on drone #3 and memory card #2. Ouch!! Gotta go through the update steps and registration steps every time. DONT CRASH!! It WILL break. They should include the guards and bracers with the kit. Its SUPER fun to fly. Got a VERY expensive learning curve though. For all the fellow android and pc users out there. Get the Liftoff game on Steam. The community has created a DJI FPV replica and the controller DOES work with the game. So you can practice with your actual gear. Oh and he didnt mention that you have to pay 5$ for registration with the FAA. Also there are flight restriction zones witch might require a zone unlock code from dji before the thing will start. If you live near a county air field I would check the DJI website maps to confirm if you are in the takeoff and landing path zone. If its blue you can get an unlock code really simple. If its red.... ugh oh. Once you get conformation from DJI you have to import that code to the drone. Its simple enough after youve done it a time or two but kinda a head scratcher in the beginning.

the IPD adjuster is for the distance between your eyes, it has nothing to do with prescription. some people's eyes are further apart from eachother than other.s

So I switched the joysticks, because it’s much more intuitive after being used to the movement of the controller for video games. But my right thumb sure has greater precision. Should I stick to what’s more intuitive or put the movement to the more precise right stick?

I was doing great for the first several hours, and not even 12 hours in when using the motion controller and not really used to the momentum when taking a turn I clipped a tree and it ripped an arm off. So frustrating after looking forward to getting one for so long.
