My DJI Mavic Zoom Auto RTH at 30%. The DJI FPV would not return to home at 10%. So I hit RTH to make it come back.

Hi ash, those mavic pilots bought this drone for the angle, right? ;) like how you cut the first scenes but it was a bit to repetitive imho. Drop on turns could be caused by wind pressure on baro? Did you see wobbly shakes in the footage when you throttled down? I got this quite often and think it might be the softmount rubber which doesn't work too well in colder temps... greets, Mario

Thanks Mario! The intro cut was extended beyond normal I agree but only because I didn't have much variety of footage from this first flight and viewers want to see this, video that they can achieve. I think that you could be right about the drop in altitude, turning across wind causing brief drops in pressure indeed! I did notice that the PIDs on this need work for sure, just basic manoeuvres cause the FC to react quite oddly, definitely some firmware updates needed! Thanks for the comment!

@@Droning-ON I find flying in manual mode - the PIDs are ok - just propwash and not very clean compared to a normal well tuned DIY copter. good enough for me tho, for gentle cruising around with some speed runs if needed. the N or S modes make me very nervous - if you let go the sticks it really counters very agressive to achieve position hold... flying manual (where gimbal isnt stabilized at all, but rocksteady still doing its work) is where this shines. yesterday I chased a train and could vary my chase speeds, cam angle very nicely - where on a normal quad you cannot change speed or cam angle to adapt to the situation (train speed). see this uncut DVR if you want: (I'm talking about 1:40) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hX_LYaqbesRnnas

The footage you got looks nice even if you had to edit it afterwards. You make some good points about this drone when it flies in the wind. Reduced battery life is something people should know if they choose to fly this thing during windy weather. You should try to do a precision test in manual mode to see how well this drone performs roof inspections.

Indeed, fly anything in wind and you'll have a low battery life generally. Manual mode is next, quite excited to test it out!

Shouldn't be any issue at all due to the proprietory nature of the digital system from DJI.

Well now guess I have to step it up in the footage department, great video as always and love the footage. I have found if you stick the image roll on it counter acts the roll in the wind but it crops in a bit more than I am comfortable with when flying close to stuff.

If you enabled the EIS you will get a nice straight horizon.

EIS is enabled by default, but it doesn't horizon level, it only stabilises the footage just as with the Osmo Action.

@@Droning-ON after enabling Image Roll Correction I was able to keep a straight horizon (with limits of cause, you can’t do any crazy turns like on the Mavic) , I can upload some raw d-cinelike footage on my youtube channel.

@@mickekling yes that would be interesting although to be fair, you don't really want a straight horizon with an FPV drone, it's the reason that you're not shooting with the Mavic :)

Agreed, that indeed would be a great feature but it would require a far larger sensor in order to over capture and provide enough resolution to do that rotation in EIS.

With the right settings you can avoid props in view.

When shooting at 4K you'll end up with props in shot occasionally but only during certain flight angles, all you do is scale/zoom that clip in post editing until the props disappear, you lose a little resolution if you're rendering out to 4K but if you're working with a 1080p timeline then it's not an issue.

@@aerialcombat I have enabled EIS, Distorsion Correction and Image Roll Correction and I don’t get any props in frame, it crops in a bit so you will not get the full 150° FOV on the recorded video. You can disable the Distorsion Correction on the Goggles to see a wider FOV while recording the corrected footage on the drone.

Night and low light isn't a good idea to be honest, nobody should be flying this during such conditions because of its lack of sensing, not a good idea unfortunately.
