Really appreciate you spending time showing how to get me going on my DJI 4 Pro that I will receive in about 3 days. I am very excited about starting flying my drone. Like everyone who buys one I sure don't want to blow $1800.00 on my first try. Or after I am experience flyer. The picture I have on my screen is when I was 25. I am now 75 and starting a new hobby. Looking forward to really becoming as much an expert as I can. Being retired I have lots of time on my hands. Thank's again Billy. Robert

I think its cool you put this out there, people will benefit from having the run down. My fifty-two cents, 1. Change the gimbal settings: The tilt allowance doesn't limit the gimbal movement, it allows you to tilt up to 30 degrees above level.2. reduce the speed to 25 or 30 and put about 17 on the pitch buffer setting so the gimbal starts and stops its movements slowly. 3. For changing your photo setting on the fly you can use the right wheel on the controller and use those c1 and c2 buttons for something more useful. Move through the settings by pressing in on the wheel and then roll the wheel to change the setting...Finally, you will get more life out of your batteries if you try and land close to 30 percent. Recommending to folks that they fly them down to 20 is eh esp in cold weather or over water, battery failure is on the top ten list for crashes. Finally, the FAA rules are not there to be pesky, they are there to keep people from getting killed. Straight up. Every accident that occurs because people don't follow airspace restrictions is one more reason the FAA will have to restrict our use of these ridiculously awesome flying camera platforms... Sorry for the rant but its pouring and I'd rather be flying...

A wealth of great info in that video, and you present it excellently. Thanks, Billy! I now know that I can adjust the saturation value and I now know how to display the histogram. I knew neither of those things before watching your video. By the way, CSC is Control Stick Command, which is moving both sticks to the "corners". Also, "cache" is pronounced the same as "cash".

Very good Billy Kyle and thank you for your help in this video of yours. I have watched lots of them but it's not clear as this one. GREAT VIDEO... Very informative.. FYI: I took a class for Search And Rescue, and learned CSC Means Combined Stick Commands.. Meaning it is the combination of 2 movements with both hands.. hey great video! quick question: I've had my phantom 4 pro now for about 2 weeks and using an iphone 6 with the remote controller as the monitor. I was originally filming in 4k but when I would film the screen would flicker pretty often, turn green for a second, etc. Not getting the best video quality! Should I switch to a lower video size (720/1080)? I hear that having an ipad is better for the monitor.

great video will be adding it to my tips list for constant watching. useful tip of my own to add, map cache swicthed on will allow you to pre-cache maps on the app before you fly. useful in case you are flying in areas where your smart device can't get an Internet connection just scroll around the map where you intend to fly before you go and the device will store this data.

Great video, just acquired the Mavic Pro - a steep learning curve. I don't see half of the functions that you mention in this video in the latest Go4Pro app that I have down loaded from the Google Play Store to both my mobile phone and my tablet. Any ideas why some would be missing? I live in a restricted fly zone area and now ( had a couple of RC flights) I have a warning of the above and the drone will not take off. I also don't have the Geo Systems function, to override it, in the drop down menu.

If it's any help to you, at around @21:03 "cache" it's not "CASHAY", it is "CASH". For instance a money cache is a storage of money, like a hole in the wall. A place to hide or keep/cache money. I hope that helps.
@stevegrant64647 жыл бұрын
Actually, Billy K is right. The correct pronunciation is 'cashay'. The word has long ago been abbreviated to 'cash' by the IT community, and although it's used widely, it's not the correct pronunciation. There's only one cache - they all mean the same thing, which is essentially storage. It's from the French; cacher - to hide. No big thing, but I thought some might find it interesting... Really useful video, shame about the constant presence of the hand!

Hey Billy I’ve got a question for you. I see from your screen that the blue dot from the gimbal tilt is not in the center of the scale, although the camera has the right position. I’ve got the same off center from the blue dot. And I think I got it because I once forgot to remove the fixation clamp from the camera while putting the drone on. Is there maybe a way to center the blue dot again with the camera in the mid position?

Billy Kyle great video. Question: When I record in 4K @ 60fps, I get lots of pixilation and distortion on playback, Could this be due to the computer I' using? 4K at 30fps is working just fine. 48 and 60fps will not cooperate.
@pcgamer868 жыл бұрын
The only thing I would say about the RC Setting that I haven't seen anyone else say anything about is that if you are a complete beginner AND have played First person shooter video games is to try control mode 3, it's so easy to pick up as its basically the same controls as most video games, I flew a drone for the first time today and with mode 3 it was so easy because I already knew the controls. I just got a P4 and are finding your vid's really useful...
@billykyle8 жыл бұрын
+o0o GAMER o0o Thank you! And great point about the controls, I had not thought about this. Is this the controller set up you use?
@pcgamer868 жыл бұрын
yes I use Mode 3, I was playing around with the sim and just couldn't get the hang of it so tried mode 1, and that felt the same so tried mode 3 and it just felt great, Mode 3 is basically the same controls as Call of Duty or Battlefield, left stick movement, right stick look around, I had never flown my P4 until today.

hi Billy, if your take off point is up on a cliff a few hundred feet above sea level, then take off from ground and fly out across the water to take photos back towards the home point, does the mavic detect its new height from sea level or still show height as being over land? in other words if you decended down the cliff would it show as a minus ground height? Thanks for your help?

graham walton The height stays relative to your take off height. If you fly below while over the cliff, your height will be a negative number.

Billy. Again question for beginners. I see people rigorously calibrating the drone compass before flight. DJI doesn't say much about this unless the actual values are out of the green status bar as shown in the app. Is it necessary to do a compass calibration before each flight? Thanks. Mine's still to make it's maiden flight here in the UK when I get time.

19:20 - "peak focus threshold is to make sure you don't overfocus or underfocus" - nope. First of all, I'm not even sure what you mean by 'overfocus' and 'underfocus'... but peak focus (actually the proper term is focus peaking) puts a subtle edge/outline in the viewfinder image around anything that is considered "acceptably sharp." The threshold setting determines how strict the monitor is about what it displays that edge on. FYI, cache is pronounced 'cash' - it's an entirely different meaning than caché. Cache, noun, "a collection of items of the same type stored in a hidden or inaccessible place." 22:25 "Exposure value is set for you." Nope, the EV is *displayed,* not set. EV indicates the discrepancy between actual exposure and what the system considers "correct" exposure (i.e., the exposure it would pick automatically). Thus, when the display shows -2.0EV, it indicates that the exposure you have manually set is 2 stops below what the system considers correct exposure. Of course, if you're shooting a dark scene, that would be an appropriate EV to see displayed, as the system assumes that all scenes average out to a middle tone. 23:00 "those are the native video formats." Not exactly. Both file types are actually what is called "container" files, or "wrappers." The contents of those "containers" is exactly the same. While Quicktime is an Apple invention, Macs handle .MP4 as well as they handle Quicktime (aka .mov). Also, if you're shooting in H.265 and editing in Premiere, you must use .MP4 at the moment. 23:20 NTSC and PAL were incompatible systems in standard def days. Since the move to HD, the only difference between NTSC and PAL is the frame rate. NTSC countries shoot at 24, 30 and 60 fps. PAL countries use 25 and 50 fps. 24:10 omits what would have been a useful discussion of D-Log and D-Cinelike, but I suppose anyone who wants to choose those profiles would already understand what they do. 99% of people look at Log, and think "that looks horrible, why would I ever want to use that?" but in fact, it provides the greatest dynamic range of any of the choices (but requires using a log LUT in editing to expand the image back to normal display gamma).
