I am trying to set my channel up. I have a Residential and Commercial Inspection Company in San Diego, and cover the entire State of California . I am trying to get a professional looking channel with KZbin. The beginning of the Vlog, most professionals like yourself. I ran a few videos to get my Vlog look with test videos had very few views. So now I have invested in proper cameras Cannon 80D EF-S lens, proper light kits etc. Went to film school years ago, love the art of photography and videography. so after raising a family they are out of the house, so I went back to acting and comedy. Love doing the comedy and have rebound success from it. But my heart and passion is for video and photography. Since I went to film school (80's) crap has changed. Love your intro, and everyone of your vlogs. You're really good. The intro start of your show, I want to make one for my inspection company, since we incorporated drones. I have DJI P3P, Mavic Pro,v DJI P4P, the DJI Spark and the Yuneec Breeze, fun to fart around with. Sorry for the long answer, wanted to to have a little bit of a background of what I wanted to do. -Jim

hi tim great vid, I've just found this app and started to play with it today and i love it,i want to start getting more flights with this app rather than dji go app. have you managed to create a 3d image of a building that could be then used to create a 3d model with a printer .

Do you require regular phone service/internet access? I have tried to use a few competitors apps in remote locations and it is frustrating when the apps do not allow you to proceed without logging into an account or checking for updates.

Hi Andrew, You currently only require once an internet access for registering the software libraries with DJI (without they dont work and thus you will not be able to fly with the app). After that internet connection is only required for accessing google map. If you load the area where you later want to fly, the map tiles will still be cached by google. So you can fly offline and have access to the maps.

Is there away to control the angle of gimbal for a point of interest ?

There are two ways to adjust gimbal angles: You can do it manually or with the concept of Point of Interests. You can place POI's on the map and you can "link" waypoints to this POI. The planner will then automatically compute and adjust the gimbal angle of the waypoints that are linked to the POI. In addition if you afterwards decide to move the waypoint or the POI this gimbal angle will keep updating as long as the link is kept. PS: The same holds for the camera yaw.

The app is safe to use. For safety we recommend you to adhere to common drone regulations: 1. Keep your drone always in visual line of sight and in range of your remote controller. 2. At any time you can take over control of your drone by switching the flight mode on your remote controller. 3. Keep out & away from manned air space (reasonable flight altitude and 5km away from airports)

For future pricing we intend to offer two versions of the planner: 1. A hobbyist version including all features for making nice photos & videos. It will be priced competitively to current prices you see on the mission planner market. 2. A professional version which will offer significantly more value to what you see on today's market and thus will be priced at a higher price ETA of final release is end of 2017.

DJI requires 3rd party applications that their users register with DJI. For this registration an internet connection is (only once) required and the registration happens then automatically. The registration is afterwards cached and no internet connection will be required anymore.

Something no one mentions that you might want to include in a video,,, one day. If you are running android, do not use device encryption. I did a side by side comparison with two S7 Samsung's, and the one that was encrypted was very very glitchy. The encrypted phone was my work phone so I ended up purchasing a dedicated ipad for my Mavic. Thanks for helping the world with your charity work.

The app looks pretty damn good! I wish there was more indication of how much it will cost ... i know they list two tiers, but there isnt any indication of how much it will be yet. I'll wait and see :) Here's an idea, It looks like you manually assign shapes(obstacles) and their approx height. It would be cool if the app could use the P4/P4pro/Mavic sonar sensors and GPS height to calculate a more precise height ... you could fly your drone over an Obstacle in some kind of scan feature once you have built up a 3dmap, which then more precisely calculates the real height of the object ... If that makes it into the app, i wont ask for much in the way of royalties ;)

Danbo this is a nice idea. Unfortunately the sensor data of the DJI drones are only good for close up obstacle detection (they work in range of meters). In addition the precision of the drone altitude (usually determined from Barometers or in case of low above ground visual sensor systems) also lacks. We believe this will be the future though, but only with new and miniaturized 3D camera sensors that can be carried by drones. Also centimeter precision GPS (in the horizontal direction) is something that will come at some point as well. We have to wait and see what the hardware world comes up with, but it will just get better and better for us droners :-)!

No, this is a DJI imposed restriction. Once the DJI database determines that your drone is in a no fly zone you can not turn on the motors of the drone. On Mavic Pro the remote controller will inform you with the message "NFZ".

Unfortunately for now the Mission Planner is only running on Android. We would love to have the manpower to develop also on the iOS platform and for a web-based platform from the outset, but for now this is future plans without a set ETA.

Be careful. DJI doesn't warranty 3rd party apps! Been down that road already. They don't even warranty issues if you crash using their own DJI ground station pro app! No flight records!

The app contains detailed flight log export functionality, which might help in insurance cases. But in the end it is DJI that define how their policies work.
