lol I'm so jealous of the snow man.. I've been waiting and all we got here was warmer weather. It's crazy. I found range testing hard to gauge at first til I started planning out locations ahead of time and paying attention to the overhead view of it in google maps. After a while I got to the point where I could sort of accurately guess what my signal would be in any given location relative to where I was parking. It's confusing because certain layouts can propagate better signal even though it may seem like there is more obstruction.

I'm glad the snow is gone… This range test is relative good, because I always sit at exact the same place (guess where 😉). So I can tell which influence changes to the setup actually have - and that's what *this* test shall reveal only.

What happened towards the end there? Like a control signal issue? That was close though lol.. almost went right in the drink.

When I started RC / FPV flying back then my "flight instructor" used to say "If it's not okay for you to totally crash that plane: leave it in the shop". 😉 Video / radios signal were fine. I guess it was a combination of icy bump and steering error caused by radio. Stock radio was like turn the wheel 10 to 15 degree before anything happens… and then bam! - much more steering angle than intended. Radiomaster MT12 ELRS arrived this week. I just did the first test drive - o boy, *WHAT* *A* *DIFFERENCE!* Even with some fine tuning still to be done, it feels like a whole new car. So much more precision in control. 😊

Are you using a head tracker as well? If so what's the setup for head tracker if you don't mind sharing. Thanks !!
@NUeB_RCFPV10 ай бұрын
No, no head tracker (yet). Just a pan servo in parallel (Y-cable) to steering.

@@NUeB_RCFPV that makes a lot of sense for a lower budget solution. Seems to work well thanks for the info.

@@fsarfino You're welcome. And in my case it's not a budget thing, btw. ;)

Great music!!! I have the Goggles 2 and was thinking of getting the O3 are you able to get full transmitting power without a Flight controller? If so what do you have to do to get full power. I was reading that to get full power with the Goggles 2 and 03 you have to have it hooked up to a flight controller has DJI fixed this yet so we can use the O3 for things that don’t have a flight controller?
@NUeB_RCFPV10 ай бұрын
Thanks. The O3 air unit needs the "armed" signal to go to into full power mode. I took a Seeeduino SAMD21 microcontroller (powered by a tiny UBEC, both together ~ 10 EUR) to send the "armed" signal to the air unit. The software (by ramiss) needed and a wiring diagram can be found at github.com/ramiss/arduino_DJI_03_RC_ARM I just changed the initial delay to 6000 msec and everything worked instantly. Don't forget to add a fan to your air unit! See my FPV gear for the WLToys car used in this video: www.printables.com/model/660115-dji-o3-fpv-kit-for-rc-car-freecad-updated

@@NUeB_RCFPV I have a couple questions for you. I have the Goggles 2 if I buy a Vista can I use that with the Googles 2 without a flight controller? Also with the arduino diagram I’m a little confused. When I look at it what is the blue box that says to the motor? I also see in the diagram it says Throttle channel. Can I just hook it up without a receiver and power it with the UBEC and battery? Thanks for any help that you can give me on getting this setup.
@NUeB_RCFPV9 ай бұрын
I don't know about the Vista. The blue box (+ blue line, R1, R2) are *optional* for battery voltage reading through the arduino; you don't need that; I left it away and it's fine. "Any" receiver channel" is the power supply for the arduino. This is where I use a separate UBEC. I want all the FPV stuff to be as independent from the car's electronics as possible. You can see *my* wiring at ibb.co/W3dWP7C - HTH

@@NUeB_RCFPV Unfortunately, when it’s attempted to be compiled, the Ardiunio doesn’t upload or compile and instead says compilation error: “exit status 1”. Do you know how to fix this? Or what I should try? I did the directions on the page. I downgraded to 1.7.9 and all the other stuff without success. Thanks for any help

You can see my FPV gear in other videos or on www.printables.com/model/660115-dji-o3-fpv-kit-for-rc-car-freecad-updated - where you can also download the files for printing. I had the camera full of snow, been driving in rain - no problem so far.
